1997 Eclipse GSX Automatic

Well, I'm jumping into the fire willingly of tuners. I currently have a 95 Saturn SC2, 84 F-150, 00 Cadillac Escalade, and a 50 Plymouth that I work on... Constantly it seems. Haven't been to a repair shop in 5 years.

That being said, I traded a '94 Explorer with 200k miles for this Eclipse PROJECT. Luckily I have someone that works at a street shop in my neighborhood. Mechanically, it has a (supposed) new engine, but the wiring in the bay is absolutely jacked up. I also needed to get a new stock intercooler (i know front mount would be better, but the first step is maintenance and getting it running), blow off valve, and some piping for the intercooler.

This being said, there are A LOT of plugs just hanging and I feel like I'm probably missing quite a few accessories under the hood. Besides finding someone with a '97 GSX that doesn't know me but would be willing to bring it over, what's the best way to figure this all out? Pics would help, but who wants to take thei GSX apart so I can see what's under the first layer? I'm at a loss of where to start beyond getting all the parts I know I need now.

There's a thread here that one of the mods made that has pretty much all the connectors and what they look like and go to. Hopefully someone can help me find it and post it.

Another quick question. Being new to the turbo world.... I have searched... Does anyone know where I can find the turbo system diagram?

That works well enough. Now I gotta follow all these electrical plugs and such. it has become blatantly obvious that there are no emission controls or AC components on my car. Ugh!

You (may) find down the road that no A/C will be a huge plus.

I have now found out that my 2G has a 1G engine swap. Pretty excited about that. Also did a lot of research and I now have a plan of attack. The only parts I am having trouble putting together are the A/C parts. Anyone know of a good, affordable yard?

So right now I am trying to sort out a few things. First, I need to figure out what the Evaporative Purge Solenoid is and if I'm missing the black box in the picture. Shown here: 2g Engine Bay Electrical Connections. Then I need to figure out what I do with the MDP sensor that I don't have for the 1G intake manifold. Figure out the knock sensor and finding it (1G doesn't have it?). Where to mount the Ignition Power Transistor. There's also a sensor under one of the timing belt? Or one of the belts that the 1G didn't have. Off to find answers before I get back under the hood.


Also, was there a change in the plug or wires for the coolant reservoir plug? I cannot find the same color ones in my 97 that are in the 95.

Ok, the crank position sensor is the one I couldn't figure out. But also figured out with the reqiring of the cam shaft sensor, it'll be handled. On to the next few....

And search is your friend again. Figured out the MDP sensor problem. Holy smokes, I'm almost done. I did have to order the MDP sensor adaptor. Now I just need to figure out this evap purge prob and the coolant reservoir prob.
