To start off the headliner on my 1996 Eclipse GS is sagging. I know about how to normally fix those but this is different. There is not really an actual headliner. It seems to be some sort of foam just put in place so it looked alright. (I was 16 and stupid when I bought the car) but I’ve been looking for an entire headliner assembly not just the fabric. If I take this makeshift headliner it’s just metal.

I’ve looked on the Mitsubishi parts warehouse website and I don’t quite understand what I’m getting. one search for the headliner gives me part number MR264580

If I do another search and click a different link I get part number MR707934

On the last search I get part number MR264580

Is there a difference between these 3 parts?

I really need the help and I’m still trying to learn more about the car but I don’t want to shotgun what I think is the correct part. Please give any input / advice. It is NOT a Spyder and also does NOT have a sunroof

There are two different headliners, for a sunroof equipped car and for a standard roof. The headliner itself is a thin fiberglass-lined panel shaped to conform to the ceiling, and then has a very thin cloth fiber glued to it. The headliner is held entirely by 4 plastic clips, one on each corner.

If you give us your full VIN, I can give you the exact part number you need. However, the following numbers refer to the color of the cloth attached to it:

MR707934 -- Standard roof - LIGHT GRAY

MR757814 -- Standard roof - LIGHT BEIGE

So pick either of those based on your interior color. Also, do you mean somebody tried to "fix" your headliner and put foam instead of it? Or completely used expanding foam and shaped it? Show pictures.

I have a 1996 Eclipse GS hatchback. The headliner is non existent, there is just metal. There is no sunroof and I can’t find a brand new one or a used one for a reasonable price. Is there a way I can custom make one?

nope, or will cost a lot of money, there's a lot of people trying to find one but they're really rare

Are you familiar with working with interiors and interior materials? You won't get a factory look because the original headliner is (I think) molded cardboard/pressboard with fabric overlay. However, you can custom make your own headliner using fiberglass or other materials (luan) and covering it with fabric or material of choice.

I was completely missing the headliner, bare metal when car was purchased. Not a sunroof car. I found a used sunroof car headliner, peeled off the fabric, made a thick cardboard "patch" for the sunroof hole and recovered it in 3/16" headliner foam backed fabric that I purchased online for about $25 and I'm very happy with the results. Had to modify the headliner a little where the sunroof controls were to make room for my dome light.
