2g eclipse headliner removal

Ok, I know there are tons of posts about this, but the one and only thing I cant figure out (or find a post of) is the trim that connects to the back of the headliner (facing the trunk) I started to pull on and saw how it connects back up to the headliner and got a little worried I wouldnt be able to snap it back up there.

I was right... I dont know if Im just being dumb or what, but I havent pulled off the rest of the trim in fear of breaking some of the plastic clips.

Can anyone guide me on how to get the back trim off? Do I just keep pulling and when I'm done with the headliner, just push it real hard to snap it back in place? I dont want to break anything

That trim piece's clips are a pain. Try pulling the headliner from it without taking off the trim.

Got fed up with it and ended up ripping it off. If you are careful, you can get it off without problems (its hard, but just keeping pulling). I, on the other hand, broke some of the plastic that the metal clips, clip into to, so I suppose ill just....super glue them back on? Try to fuse the plastic to the metal or something so that the trim stays tight against the roof? Any thoughts would be appreciated, but at the moment the headliner is down and ready for carbon fiber!

I was going to PM you again in a few days, didnt want to bother you! Yes, the LED mod on that...silver eclipse i think? Was thinking of tackling it myself, but figured your way would be more "hard-wired" whereas mine would be "glue on."

Those were half hard wired/ half plug & play. I've since made adjustments for full plug & play. My current spyder I can swap Talon liaghts on to with the factory plugs and not have to worry about things not working right.

I know its said and done, but that long horizontal plastic trim is the only one that removes different from other plastic pieces. It has to be slid back-wards so it helps to stand behind the car and slide it towards you.

I just redid my headliner, figured i would share.

OP? are you going to re-upholster it in carbon fiber fabric ?

That's what I had thought, but since it's been a long time since I've had a hard top DSM, I didn't want to throw that out there and be wrong.

Yeah, I thought it moved backwards once I got a peek of the way the clips hold it up. Oh well:/ Any tips on fixing the clips?

I am going to try my best at re-doing the headliner in a carbon fiber vinyl wrap. Iv never done anything remotely close to this sort of thing so, should be quite a learning experience.

I say go get one from a salvage yard. They're the same color regardless of interior color combinations.

the best way i figured to get the rear headliner trim off is to slide it towards the driver side i believe. then it should just pop off
