I just bought this one with 74000 original miles. All stock, for now.

Was trying to clean this stuff up this morning. Tye throw out bearing i took off does look oem so I guess it was changed out at some point. The one I am putting in is OEM.

The bearing you took out is not oem. At least not for awd. Early on the awd had its own part num and it has a plastic sleeve. The new one you have is correct. I think later all of them spec the plastic lined sleeve not just awd. Check the shaft the bearing rides on. The metal sleeve units tend to gouge the shaft/housing. Unfortunately if it ever gets real bad there is nothing you can do on a 1g. 2g has a replaceable sleeve. Your sleeve is damaged but no worse than most I've seen. The severely damaged ones cause problems.

Brake caliper i had to redo. Powder coating has been new to me and the maroon color turned out that way bc i did not put the reflective chrome coat on first. I submerged the caliper in paint stripper for a couple of days and then used a wire brush. It came off very easily. However within minutes of rinsing off it rusted over completely. I glass beaded it off in minutes then re painted.

That looks great. I wonder if you did the same thing with a nice blue top coat how it would look.

But yeah, great progress. Still bummed on your behalf that you paid someone absolute top dollar for essentially a lemon. Dude should have paid for your rebuild at least.

I dont think it was really a lemon. I drove the car for a year and am only doing this rebuild because I have had a wish list of things that I have wanted to do for years but did not have the disposable income then that I do now. I drove it to work every day until the day I decided to start tearing it down. I started buying the parts for all this the day I got the car home. By the time I started nearly exactly a year later I had a huge stash of the parts accumulated. I had been planning this build in my head since the last dsm I had about 16 years ago now. I just didn't want to put a bigger turbo and all the related stuff on a original 30 year old car. That's why I just decided to do all this.

This is the caliper bracket and the fuel filter bracket. By the time I am done I should be decent at this.....

I do still have to strip the air intake bc i jacked it up by applying another coat a couple days later. I was very raw at this when I did it.

As far as the blue, I think it depends on what style paint you get. This red is Translucent Red and the reflective chrome is recommended as the base coat. I bought it all at the beginning however I forgot to do the base coat on the first few pieces I painted. I probably will not redo a couple of small pieces that will be hard to see once the engine is in anyways.

Have not had much time lately but have made a little progress. I got the transmission bolted up to the engine. I had to order new bolts for that as I could not find mine. Sure enough the day they came in from JNZ, I found them. I also replaced all the bushings in the shifter and the base bushings with bushings from 3D Creations.
