1990 Galant GTi Main relay doesn’t turn on

The main relay on my Galant wont click on when I turn the key to ignition, but the fuel pump relay besides it turns on when I crank the engine, what goes wrong?

If your Galant GTi is anything like a 1G DSM then perhaps this might help.

1G - 1G basic ECU MPI relay circuit function

The 1G DSM has two main circuits for the engine. The Multi Port Injection (MPI) circuit and the Ignition circuit. You must be registered to see element..The ECU is connected to both circuits but is powered from the MPI circuit and controls it. The MPI circuit also powers the MAF, CAS, ISC...

It's the ECU that turns on the power side of MPI relay where the fuel side can be turned on by either the ECU or the starter circuit. The two parts also get power from two different places. The first from the MPI or Engine Fuse and the second from the Ignition Switch.

I suggest you track down the Mitsubishi Factory Service Manuals for your 1990 Galant so you can see the wiring diagrams and compare.
