Any overheating issues during summer? Are you still on stock brakes?

Radiator is actually an aluminum one for a mighty max, no overheating issues, I didn't have any issues with the stock radiator though, i did modify the cylinder head a little, but nothing major just to prevent coolant stagnating in the rear of the head.

Brakes are still stock, solid disc front, drum rear.

5 year goal for this car is:

6G72 single turbo
AW4 montero automatic/overdrive transmission (will hold decent power)
Ford 8.8 rearend with discs

Right now I built it as a cruiser with a little boost for fun. :thumb:

Sounds like it's gonna have some big balls. Can't wait to see it!

That's good to know. I also have the same project that we've been working on the past few years but mine is a 75 two door. I've been having issues with clearance with the stock brake booster and 1g intake manifold. I was also thinking of getting a vr4 radiator but since you don't have any overheating issues, I'll probably use the stock radiator. How hot does it get there during the summer?

get up to 95-105 with humidity, can get pretty warm. I ran it on the stock radiator in august and it was ok but wound up switching out simply because the fan ran constant if it idles for a few minutes. that and the old radiator was pretty used up.

Everything except the yellow headlamps, lip, and stickers on the back window.. is pretty killer.
I'd totally rock the wagon and the Lancer.

The headlights aren't yellow anymore, just the fogs, as for the rest, to each their own. I'll rock my wagon, you roll whatever it is you're into. Thanks though.:thumb:

Did the engine sit higher or lower with the custom brackets?

Looked the same to me. Where are you going with this?

Any plans for bumpers? I applaud your craftsmanship and dedication.

It's really hard to find the slim bumpers, i put the ones from my wagon onto the sedan, so if I ever find another set, you can bet I'll snatch them up. Thanks!

I just want to know if you did something different to what we did since you don't have any clearance issues with the stock brake booster.

That's pretty damn awesome, but I would keep the 4G in it, and just build a 4G for power. Then again I am blatantly, and unashamedly, biased towards the 4G over the 6G. (all the fanboys can stop right now with what you are going to say, I've got a metric ton of friends into the 3/s platform and heard it all before, I've ridden in them and driven them too, so save us both time :p)

Go get yourself one and put a 4G in it then. :) there isnt a good auto with overdrive option trans thats bolt on. I refuse to use adapters and spend big money.

I drove this car from san francisco to here with the original 4G52 in it, I'd like to drive it back to cali at some point, the 4G63 would be fine for that, but a 6G72 would be a great highway cruiser :D

Nobody has said it yet, if the Lancer was badged an Arrow why didn't they badge the evo as the Arrow GT or something? Just sayin. But ya, nice old school ride dude. Back in the day my parents had a 75 Plymouth Sport Fury, like to track one of those down someday.

Yours did not come with a 4g32 Saturn?

These cars had both options then, my wagon and my coupe originally came with 4G32's but someone swapped both of them out to 4G52's long before I ever got my hands on them.

They weren't very strict with naming, as you saw my 'galant' wagon was called a 'colt' in american, a name that later was given to the 'mirage' chassis in the 80's.

they just sort of kept the names around to put on whatever.

I see, so it's a trans issue. 4G63 still > the 6G72 though. :p

I'm just yanking your chain. A little. ;)

I never said one was better than the other, however the 6G72 will be far more unique in this chassis and like i said, until there's an overdrive auto trans available for the g63, i'll go this route.

I've been wanting to build a RWD 6G72 set up for years though, i've been a long time montero owner over and over, currently have a 6G74 montero on 37's.

You're taking what I say way too seriously. Relax, I'm just messing around with you. You're way too sensitive about this. :)

I've also owned a 6G74 montero for quite some time. Smooth riding, great vehicle. Trans took a shit on me though.
