Hey what's up guys?

I'm thinking about going the 18G route with my 2g. I was looking at the
Greddy 18G kit.
I read some posts that said that the 18G was :thumbdown.
Just wondering why?
If it's not an 18G, then I would be looking at a 20G, but that just seams to big to me, for what I want out of the car. Then a 16G seams to small, since I have heard a lot of people said they have gotten used to the performance increase to quickly.

So, what's bad about the 18G's????

Thanks guys.......

There just isnt that much support for the 18g. And for that reason they cost alot more then they should. I would suggest a 20g or a Evo16g.

If $ isn't an issue, is an 18G turbo still good? Sorry, but what did you mean by not much support for the 18G's.

Thanks for your Reply.....

Not many people use them so not many people offer them, if money is no issure then go get it. If its what you want get it and dont let anyone tell u different :thumb:

I think that GReddy kit is a waste of money. If you want to go that big, might as well get a 20G. Or an 18G from forced performance.

I agree, if money is no object get a 20g, or some hybrid, though there is not a thing wrong with an 18g. But get it from forced performance, don't pay for the big name when you will get the same turbo!

Thanks for the info guys.
The only reason I was looking at the Greddy was because it comes with everything needed.
I just don't like dealing with install hassles and having to hack at stuff.

Still gonna check out forced performance though.

Thanks again.

The 18G is actually a very good turbo. The main reason, as stated, that the 18G gets no support is because most people associate "18G" with the GReddy kit which is laughably over-priced.

Also, being a newb (no offense there),I think people tend to associate the number with some sort of HP latter. what I mean there is you think 16G is good for a certain HP and application, and 20G being two steps higher and you just want a nice middle level so "18G" sounds appealing.

In all honesty there isn't a huge difference between them. The B16G flows, I believe, 550cfm while the 18G flows 600cfm.

If you want the 18G, get it. I have one and found it to be a good turbo, just don't get the GReddy kit. Find the 18G at a good online shop and all the other "bolt on parts" that come with the Greddy kit can be found elsewhere for cheaper and require no more hacking than the original kit would.

Quick stats for you: 18G spools 17psi by 3300 and is capable of 375-400whp with all supporting mods and decent tuning.

20G usually gets full spool by 34-3500 and is capable of approx. 430whp with supporting mods. Usually the same price or close to as the 18G and is still very streetable.

Don't waste your money on the Greddy kit. For that price there are several vendors on this site that will hook you up with a full T3/T4 Garrett setup for around 1500$. The best bet for your money in the DSM world are these full Garrett kits. You'd be hard pressed to find a better deal that makes more power for less. AGP sells a 50 trim complete kit that can throw down 450whp for 1500$. Not bad at all.

The Greddy 350Z turbo kit does use 18G turbos, so they can't be all that bad ( although they are at only 7psi ).

With the Evo III at 570$ new, you really should either get the Evo or go full Garrett.
