I just noticed that my Resistor box for the turbo has no vacuum lines and the vacuum line is looped from the waste to the bottom of turbo cant see really where. Is this good or bad? I remember i couldnt do this on my 1G talon without issues.

Also how much boost should i be able to get out of the stock turbo on the GSX? I think its a 1T25 its pushing 7-8 right now which i do believe is factory.

Also whats a simple swap from the T25 without major mods. I loved the ported 16G i had on my TSI years ago but i know its not a simple swap from the T25 to the 16G as i have heard.

Hello, you can loop the vacuum line from the turbo to the Wastegate without any issues. All your doing really is bypassing the stock boost controller valve. This is simply the same concept as if you had an aftermarket boost controller and just turned it all the way down to it's lowest setting. Your boost now fully depends on how much your wastegate spring can hold before releasing the excess pressure.

If you have a 96 gsx i believe you got the T-25, not the 14B turbo, unless someone swapped it out which is a common mod. On a stock T-25 setup running stock boost you should be around 13psi, +/-1psi.

Well then i have an issue. Just went and bought a turbonetics boost controller and hooked it up turned it way down and have been tuning it ever since. I cannot get past 7 PSI and it feels like my car is missing hard and i have a check engine light. Got the codes read its a random miss fire in all 4 cylinders and code 2 was a low coolant or faulty thermostat. So i got some more cool and filled the jug 3/4 of the way and bought new plugs and wires. I swapped the wires the old ones were shot and going to do the plugs tomorrow. Now the biggest thing i feel is when hitting 7 psi it almost feels as if a fuel cut or as if the turbo just gives up. I am going to take down my intercooler and inspect the line for oil then inspect the shaft for play but i hear exhaust leaking from the manifold / down-pipe area and a wicked lifter tick from the intake side #3. With all this said im almost concerned i have a nuke or as some call it detonation.

Take the boost controller out and forget about messing with the boost until you sort out all of your mechanical issues. Are you just trying to blow what's left of your engine? Maintenance first. Fix those CEL's, check compression, do a boost leak test, change the oil, fuel filter, etc, and make sure you are using premium gas. Then, if the motor runs well, and has decent compression, consider messing with anything performance related.

Well thats kind of what i was aiming for. I originaly biught the controller to replace the resistor the previous owner took out. But yes im on the motor today inspecting everything. I do believe if there is a boost leak its coming from the turbo or exhaust. Ill keep you informed!!
