16g turbo in 97 GST

Hey guys, I have a 1997 GST and I was thinking about upgrading my stock turbo. I have heard of a t28 and a 16g fitting in dsms. What would I need for a 16g upgrade?

a 16g install kit from one of our vendors, and the turbo of course.

Just get that install kit for the 16G and she bolts right up. Really easy to do.

You may also want to consider doing some fuel upgrades as well if you really want to get the most out of a 16g

Ok thanks for the replies guys. So i can keep the internals stock or will I have to upgrade them? Also what's the best psi to run it at?

You gotta search man there is ton of info about your questions. Stock internals are fine for 16g. Just make sure you do compression test and leak down test to verify your motors health. The rest will come down to tuning. Head studs is a must for high psi if not you will blow head gasket.

Your stock internals will be fine. I wouldn't run anything over 16 psi as you'll run out of pump on the stock fuel system. I made 264 fwhp in my GST and it's stock internally and haven't had any issues yet.

I've never ran a 14b but from my research back when I went with a 16g it looked like the 16g could put down more power and had a wider power band. The 14b started slowing down in the high range though, but comes into boost a little earlier.

You really need to do some research on these turbos, all the information is out there and all the questions have been asked.. the t-25 was the smallest dsm turbo that I'm aware of that was offered. then the 13g. then the 14b, followed by the t-28, and then larger then that are the 16g variants. the 13g, 14b, and all 16gs need the 16g style install kit to work however because they use a j-pipe instead of a downfiring compressor housing.

Only if your planning on ditching the stock maf or venting your bov atmospherical. The stock maf is enough for a 16g unless you really start pushing the limits.
