95 gst cluster in a 97 gst

I just purchased a 97 GST that has a cracked nasty instument cluster.(all gauges work)
I ordered a new cluster off ebay from a 95 GST.
I swap my 97 cluster with my 95 and everything seems to work just fine.
After driving for awhile my gas gauge was reading Half tank however I have a full tank and my odometer works but is not in sync with the trip gauge? wtf?
I swapped my 97 junky cluster back in and gas gauge read full tank and odometer works as it should.
My 97 gst cluster is part number MB917438N
The 95 gst cluster is MB917438 ( No "N")
What are the differences?? Obviously something is different.
Any suggestions?? I need to somehow make the 95 cluster work .

I could be wrong, but it could be because of the ECU.
95-96
97-99

When I owned my 95, some parts wouldn't xfer over from newer years.
Glad I own my second 98 now <3 my Ecu!
