ok so today i was at my local pick a part grabbing a turn signal switch for my 2g gst and i saw a 1st gen sitting there with the hood closed so i figured i would go check it out. turns out its a turbo model and the 14b was just sitting there and they want $114 for it... are the gains over the t25 significant enought for that price? and wont i need an install kit?

thanks

the 14b is better than the stock t25 and will give you a bit more power but for that price on a 14b idk i wouldnt pay that much because you will need installation kit for the 2g models

If you can fab up a J pipe which you will need as part of an install kit and oil lines and such than yeah it will be worth it, I would try and work them down more on the price.. But It will make a signifacant gain from the T25..

It's worth it! I helped a friend who installed one in his 2g. Go buy the install kit because you can always re-use that for a 16g when you blow your 14b.

don't waste you time and money. Just buy a new turbo. Much happier and you will know that nothing is wrong with it.

hmmm, a new turbo will be a LOT more expensive than a used one and it will do the same job.... just check if the turbo don't have shaft play and if turbines are fine (no ships) and go for a 2g install kit man.

I'd say the 14b is a good upgrade but I think it will be better if you go directly for a 16g or a T28 if you don't want to invest in a install kit.

Umm... a 14b or a 16g use the same install kit. A T28 should be a direct replacement but you'll have to keep the boost down in order to run safely.

I used every thing from a 1g from the junk yard (Oil feed, coolant line, j pipe etc.) no need to buy a pricy install kit. I also found it a great upgrade from the T25, I never got a chance to push it past 12 psi but even then it felt better then my t25 at 15 psi.
Only mods were:
Fuel pump rewire
Hard upper intercooler pipe
1g BOV.

Great "cheap" (depending if you can find the stuff from a junkyard or other dsmers) upgrade :)
