14b turbo spool

I bought a 91 gst about 6 months ago. Had bent valves. Rebuilt it to stock form. Noticed orginal 14b had major shaft play and got lucky and another at a local junkyard. Now that I've been driving the car I can't exact hear it spool. Is this an issue? Car feels like it gains boost. According to both stock and aftermarket boost gauge its sitting between 7-10 psi. Is me not hearing it spool a problem?

If the car has the stock intake system than it does hold a lot of the spool sound within. When I bought my 2g GST the entire car was completely stock and unless I had the windows down and was trying to hear the turbo, I couldn't hear anything.

Everythings stock besides hard piping. Even with the window down I couldn't hear

Is the intake filter stock or does it have a cone style filter? As long as your aftermarket gauge is hooked up properly and you get boost when you should, I wouldn't worry about it. Take off your intake filter and take it for a quick rip, bet you will hear it then

I think the filters cone shaped. Already hearing a knock when I start it. just being cautious about everything else

I ran without a downpipe and could barely hear my 14b

My old 14b was quiet as well. Much quieter than my 16g even with hard pipes, cone filter on and injen intake. About the only time I heard it was when I was running 17lbs boost. Even then pretty quiet.
