so yeah.... in case you've seen the other thread of mine, i've blown up my stock t25 (at least i think so - haven't torn it apart yet) and am going to replace it.

i have been told that the 14b bolts up with some 1g parts - what EXACTLY are all the parts i need to put the 14b on a 2g gsx?

Also what sort of gains would i be looking at on an otherwise stock m/t gsx?

and is it safe to put this an such a stock 2g? or would i need to start to replace other things like injectors etc? i really hope not because this bigger turbo would be the FIRST mod i'm doing (followed hopefully closely be lowering springs and exhaust - exhaust first if i must :()

someone please tell me where a write up etc for this is or any advice/information on these!

thanks so much! :D

Yep - 3 flavors - big, regular (small), and EVO III. EVO III is slightly bigger than the Big 16G.

With those 510cc injectors, you'll need something to tune with (AFC or similar) or you're going to run too rich. If you don't have one for now, swap in your blue top injectors. Removing and reinstalling the fuel rail is a piece of cake, if you've never done it.

well actually the 96 gsx has been pretty much restored to stock condition with the engine swap so the yellow top injectors are out of the car.

i just happened to blow up the t25 so i want to put that 16G in there if i can

do i need to do anything else to make this work once i get it on there?

ie leave the car stock except for that turbo? as in no 510cc injectors or boost controller or anything?

Using the stock injectors that come with all US DSM's will not give the car a good feel. You won't be able to boost as much and you will hit fuel cut if you turn it up.

I guess if you stay at the stock 10-13psi you could be ok. It will feel better than the old T25 that was once in there.

So do you have the engine in there and not the yellow tops? Or are you buying/using a turbo off of a JDM engine and what to know if it works with the 2G car?

Yes, it is true.

Small 16G (regular/first whatevr you want to call it)
Big 16G
Evo 16G

Three different types of 16G's produced.

I know there is a Super 16G, but from what I have read, it just uses a larger housing (not different blades). The three above are the most prominent(SP) in the DSM world.

i bought the jdm engine and put it in my car sans the turbo seen here and injectors and just about every other external part (wiring differences)

the yellow top injectors come off a galant vr4 while the green top come off the evo III
(from what i've been told) but i was also told by a guy that knows his stuff (galant vr4 in the states that runs 11's) that he has never seen that turbo and that it is not off the jdm galant.

what i did notice when i took the tranny off is that there was a 6ish disc HKS clutch in the jdm tranny. this led us to believe that this was un upgraded turbo from the stock one in japan.

Any way i can find out exactly what kind of turbo this is? i have all the numbers printed on it.....

blcknsploOn, sorry for the flame there, I know what you meant, there are so many variants on the turbos out there, there probably is someone who makes a 16g that's not big but not small either.

Sure, post all of the numbers on it you can find.

I doubt it's upgraded, though - but we can check.

LOL i feel like a dumbass.

HRC made the super 16G.. it used a 10 cm^2 housing

Yes. Damn this thing. Ive got one. I just took off the maaaaaasive 10cm^2 housing. Its just a small 16g compressor wheel.

not that theres much of a difference between the small and large 16g's anyways. Not enough to warrant the price difference at least. No arguments....nooooo!

ok so here are all the numbers i can find...

on the left grey part of the turbo -

"TD05H - 16G6 - 7
49178 - 01300
970304026"

on the copperish middle part between the grey part of the turbo and the part that bolts up to the exhaust manifold -

"T79"

these are the only numbers i could find on the turbo except for the ones on the wastegate housing - would those help too?

here's the pic reposted just for clarification....

As stated before, I'm almost positive it's just a 16G.

What's curious, to me at least, is the compressor outlet. It's one piece and quite large, compared to a bolt-on type piece from the 14b/16g's I've seen - even the EVO III's.

which part is the compressor outlet???

LOL... dude I will be in marysville on tuesday if you want to stop by real quick I'll show you what shit is on the turbo's (no need to bring it with you, I have 3 of them not in a car...).

But to answer your question online... The outlet is the thing on the bottom of the compressor side of the turbo, in the picture it is below the wastegate actuator....the wastegate actuator is the round thing that has the metal rod that goes between the compressor side housing to the exhaust housing side...

To install that in your car you DO NOT need an install kit. DO NOT waste your money, You can use the parts that came with the JDM engine. I'll be working on a evoIII 16g install in a 2G tuesday, wed, and thursday and I'll show you the parts you will need and can reuse.
