t25 to 14b

Ok for starters, i know there are other posts on this topic. Alot of mixed answers though. all i want to know is, by swapping a t25 with a 14b on a stock fuel system and with a fmic, what is the most i can run? from what i have gathered i can run the same 15 lbs. i understand the process of the installation. i just dont want to hit any fuel cuts or push the 14b harder than what it can handle. What would you guys recommend with my set up. And also with supporting mods. In time i plan on getting injectors, wb 255, fpr, ecm link, ect. just right now would like a to have a little more fun

I'd recommend you don't adjust boost until you have a proper logging and tuning setup so you know for sure what you're doing works.

Wastegate pressure is all that'll be safe until you have a way to log and monitor your AFRs.

Get a 190 fuel pump they better if you want to keep yor stock fuel pressure regulator 14b makes good power in 15lbs you can go 20 and still be good and the stock 2g injectors are good till 15lbs still they lean out

I would recomend at the very least have a logger or wideband, but people told me not to put my 16g on my car with stock fuel system and nothing more than a boost gauge and mbc, and i did it anyway, and ran 15psi with no KNOWN problems, and that was on the stock 1g smic, keep it at no more than 16psi, just remember you might have more fun now but you may hinder the reliabilty of your dsm without evan knowing it.

96%? At what RPM?

Just because you're under 100% doesn't mean you have room to go. You were way over the operating range of the stock DSM injector. What was your IPW? IDC is just a calculation of your IPW and RPM.

Now you have to at the very least, increase fuel pressure to get more injector. But on a stock fuel system, you can't do that with the stock FPR. So you proved that the injector and the stock regulator isn't sufficient for your mods at that time.

You're OVERestimating the limits of the stock fuel system. Just because your car hasn't blow up, doesn't mean its running "safe".

Sure, you pushed the injector to 20psi and it can be done.....done wrong.

im on a 14b with a front mount, mbc, boost guage, and stock fuel system i have the car at 12 lbs and i personally have a blast with it where it is now until I have wideband and/or DSM link to monitor whats going on when i turn up the boost

Sure. You are absolutely correct. Having some type of datalogger (dsmlink) is correct. However, you're IDC's indicate that the stock injector needs to be upgraded.

To say it runs "safely" is an understatement. I mean, you're on the right path if your mods in your profile are up to date. I'm just saying...you are due for an injector upgrade if you hit anywhere near 96% IDC at any rpm.

Go make a pull at 20psi and post a log for me. Then make a pull at 15psi and post that log as well. I'll help you find the limits of the stock injectors.

Im agreeing with you. 96% is very unsafe, I dont recomend it. Thats why im at 18psi and only at 82% cycle duty.

When I was at 20psi I was knocking really bad. If you want to finish this convo in PM's im down. No need to clutter someone elses thread. I have a few logs. Im a noob at tuning.

You would need something to tune/log the car with properly. You can swap a 14b instead of a T25 and it will pull harder and hold boost a little better. IMO get your self a set of 550cc injectors, a 255 pump and something to tune with and you can turn up the boost safely.

Im currently running 24~25psi on a evo3 16g with RC 550 + 255 fp and im tuning with link and i cant complain.

What you should be worried about before turning up the boost is having a boost gauge to keep an eye on what psi you are running. If it were me, and this was my 1st mod on my 1st DSM, run at about 13-14 psi and have fun with it!

A logger/wideband should be one of the first things you buy when you start upping the boost. They will save you a lot of money in the long run by keeping you in the safe zone without blowing your car up. Every car responds differently to added boost so thats why a logger is so important. Even at stock boost levels going from a t25 to a 14b should give you a noticeable difference but its once you get over like 15psi thats where the 14b will chew up and spit out the t25. I've owned 3 completely stock 1g's and have personally run them all at 15psi without knock and idc's barely over 80%.

i have a boost gauge, fmic, and a mbc. right now i am sitting at around 15 psi. i was looking into getting a 14b to have a little more fun. i did have the understanding that in time i would need to upgrade the fuel system. i plan to do so but at the moment i still do not know the car well enough to throw heavier mods into it. im sure by the end of the summer i will know more about the car as in anything else that may need to be fixed or replaced

When you say "holding it fine" do you just mean that it didn't blow up on you? I've logged idc's on my old 16g setup and idc's were in the mid to upper 90's on the stock injectors at 15-16psi. I would never recommend running 18psi on a 16g with stock injectors thats just asking for trouble on pump gas.

There is no set boost level thats "safe". Every car responds differently to boost thats why a logger is needed to monitor things like knock, timing, idc's etc. A wideband is great for fine tuning but even if its telling you that your not running lean you still might be pushing those injectors well past there safe zone so thats where the logger is a good piece to have. Hell you can dload mmcd datalogging software for free and spend maybe $50 tops on a decent pda and datalogger cable and it will tell you alot about how your cars running.

the 14b is installed. after installing i forgot to readjust the MBC. Did a pull and hit about 18lbs before i fuel cut. turned it to about 14 lbs and the car is running good from what i can tell. it was a good idea to replace the t25. for the longest time i had a rattle i could not figure out for the life of me. since installing the 14b i have yet to hear the rattle. but right now the car sits. i ended up blowing the oil feed line in half. my guess is there was a weak spot at that point in the line. i found a steel braided on extremepsi.com. Now its back to the waiting game.
