Hi, I went to the track last friday and I ran a 14.9 with my tsi (A/T) it was very humid out thought and all the cars where running slow. My mods are s16g turbo, greddy i/c piping, greddy type-s bov, K&N intake, 3" downpipe, im still running threw the stock cat and catback. What do you think i could run with a full 3" exhaust and a walbro 255?

ill tell you what you problem is, its an automatic, i have an automatic as well and ended up puting a bunch of time and money to wast when i only ran a 14.6 @ 94mph and a 60 ft of 2.2 with my mods i should have been well in the 13's but i blame it all on the automatic trans

just my thoughts, jason

It has nothing to do with the automatic. The problem is your supporting mods are just not there.

1. You need to do the exhaust. This is not an option. If you want the turbo to be able to efficiently breathe you need to open up the exhaust.

2. Your 60fts are not very good. Please don't take offense when I say that but I had an A/T FWD before and I ran 2.0 60fts all day long on street tires.

3. You need to do your fuel system. Your living on borrowed time running the stock fuel system through the stock cat back.

Think of it this way... Think of your turbo as an amplifier. Then think of your fuel system as your stereo and your exhaust as your woofers. You can have a 10,000 dollar amp but if your stereo and woofers suck it is still going to sound like crap. The same thing applies here. You have potential to run low 13s or better with your setup but you need to make sure you do all the correct supporting mods with it. Also make sure you do the shift kit and end clutches.

Thank you for the help nightmare i just ordered the walbro 255 pump and im getting the 34mm flapper mod done soon. After that im getting an rnr 3" with a test pipe so i will have a turbo back 3" exhaust, that should help me out alot. Thanks for the help guys. :)

I was reading some mod list suggestion walkthrough thing... and it said for a 300hp goal use 2.5", for the 400hp mark get 3"... I was just wondering if 3" is ALWAYS better than 2.5"... like theres no situation (based on other mods) that would make 2.5" exhaust perform better than 3" right? Is it always the bigger the better? Sorry if this is a n00b question, but granted I am, in fact, a n00b... I guess it's to be expected.

3" will flow more yes, but unless you plan on getting a turbo that needs that much flow, save some money and go with the 2.5".

I never noticed it with my A/T but I have been told by some of the fast A/T guys that a 3" downpipe is going to cost you some low end torqe. I never noticed any loss but then again the guys I was asking were running much much larger turbos, better times and know a hell of a lot more than I do.

i have an auto, also. (soon to be sold hopefully) I ran a 16 flat with only a brand new OEM tranny. You can go from there for numbers with your mods. Best bet is tuning, but i'd wait for your next couple mods you have to tune it. Any performance shop around will do it. Otherwise a datalogger could help. AFC only helps with your fuel/air, doesn't do full tuning. Good luck, sounds like you have a good car going. I just miss my 5spd, so don't take anything I say in a wrong way.

Whats with the newbie smart ass remark? The tires were Yoks AVS ES100s which are totally street. Remember just because you can't do it does not mean it cannot be done. Besides 2.0 is a shtty 60ft as far as drag racing is concerned.

stop crying... 2.0 on fw street tires... and what clutch? but please don't cry back...

You also mentioned that it was very humid outside. That makes a huge difference. In my opinion it's a waste of time and money to run your car on a hot and humid day, b/c your noit running to full efficiency. I went to the track one day (i didn't run) that was about 90 degrees and very humid. Supras with 500 plus horsepower were running 14's and the few evo's i saw were running low high 13's to low 14's. It really makes a huge difference when the atmosphere is just right.

Ohhh nice witty reply newbie. Did you even read the posts. I didn't have a clutch on the car because it was an AUTOMATIC. Maybe you should spend more time trying to improve your coveted 2.45 60ft and less time trolling the boards trying to win the worlds biggest asshat award.

Was this 2.0 60' with your AWD?

Tomeek must have not seen that you are not in a FWD, but indeed an AWD car.

A 2.0 50' in an Automatic with street tires in stock form is pretty good for an AWD. Tomeek, you would not get a 2.0 in a FWD car with an automatic and stock suspension.

There was just a missunderstanding is all. :thumb:
