1.8L eagle talon timing belt install

anyone here got some info on how to install timing belt on a 93 eagle talon 1.8L? also the motor doesn't have that plastic cover for the timing marks..any info is greatly appreciated..

Timing mark for the cam is on the outer edge of the cam rear shield (a vertical hash mark ) and for the rest of the marks, they are on the block itself when you take the lower cover off.

Always roll the crank to the TDC position and doing so, take the cap off the distributer and the rotor should point to No.1 sparkplug position.

Since the 4G37 (1.8L) also have a balance belt, you have to get the oil pump sprocket and the balance belt sprocket aligned up along with the dot on the cam sprocket to the mark (which is at the "12:00" position) of the mark on the rear shield which on the very top edge of the shield with the main crank sprocket mark.

As with all DSM belt installs, all marks have to be dead on, or the motor will not run correctly, or not at all.

Oil pump sprocket also has the rear balancer attached. And to align the oil pump sprocket is to turn the sprocket until the mark on the sprocket and the mark on the block align up, then let go of the sprocket. If the sprocket rolls to the right (clockwise), the balancer is 180* off. Roll the sprocket again with aligning up the marks and then release the sprocket. If the sprocket rolls to the left (counter-clockwise) then the balancer is in phase with the crank and the belt can be installed.
