100% agree. Just being there at all is worth it to me.I haven't brought a 4G car to the shootout in 15 years; I live 7 hours away and I still wouldn't miss it!
Not having to worry about your DSM and actually enjoy the event.....Zero actual downsides to that plan.
Its AOK to be a spectator!!
Even if you can't make a multi-day vacation; there isn't another show like this!!!
Hit the ATM, get outta town; "someday" is coming up next weekend!!!!
Summit Motorsports Park has a massive parking lot where your boring, normal car will blend right in.
When you are surrounded by the sights and sounds; you'll understand.

I would never have thought it would grow like this. My first Shootout was 96 and if I remember it was 88 cars.I'm 13h each way and have done it 10 times now, it's not that bad.
Unfortunately this year will not be one of them, things just not working out on my end, too little time and work too busy.
I’m definitely interested in that. For those who haven't left yet, let me know if you want me to create a QR code sign for you to print out and display next to your car:33rd Annual The Shootout 2026

My first Shootout you guys were staying at the Inn on the lake (I have pictures somewhere). I drove my 90 Mirage EXE there 10-11 hours one way with no ac in the summer (also did it the next 2 years). I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. The first smells as I arrived Friday night were what I’ve been missing for years. Like walking into a random grandmas house and feeling at home. Also caught Dan @TRC with the Colt one year going to the lanes while I was checking tires. Just a couple days leftI'm 13h each way and have done it 10 times now, it's not that bad.
