Major $600 selling points were
1) it DROVE HERE
2) A/C is supposed to work and appears stock
I shook hands before I knew exactly what I bought, LOL.

Finished my Durango last week, but have been dealing with work and the widespread power outage and damage from whatever type of derecho/tornado combo meal weve been getting served up the last 2 years in Chicagoland

I just had the rear shocks to replace after finishing the front shocks and the ball joints. Drivers side took 10 minutes, The passenger side bottom bolt came out easily but the top bolt just wouldnt break and i ended up rounding it and the nut fairly early on. Turned into rotating between an angle grinder cutoff wheel to cut most of the shock away, a torch to burn the bushing and a pack of Dremel metal cutting wheels to cut through the bushing shell and finally the bolt due to the lack of space to get the angle grinder in there..

So all i need to do now is get an alignment and im done with this thing.

I worked on my GARDEN yesterday and today. Now I have A LOT of bagging to do and figure out what to do with all of these. :hmm: Ham sandwich time for sure with all the heat we are enduring.

I bagged all of those and there were over 850 of them, with 50 in each bag (I am now out of ziplock bags, LOL). ✌️

I gave a honest diag on their weird Town & Country rack issue. It felt like resistance in a turn to the right and less to the left. Electronic power steering. They had a dealer warranty. Take it to them.
Now pops brings me this beauty. So the story goes. He bought it new. It’s had a paint job. Well done restoration but like always a bunch of small issues that need to get worked out.

Love the old car. The paint looks brighter than original but is gorgeous. Rare bench seat/column shift too!

Found out that all the "new" rear end links for the x-fire are expired... (Plastic has an expiry date.. so even if new you're boned) Made a more permanent solution... Installed and Tested it early this morning.. HUGE difference...

This week is 2018 Honda V6 with 107K mi stuff in the evenings. (MDX)
Aisin timing belt set, valve adjust, intake valve cleaning, coolant flush, $park plugs, driveline fluids, bleed brakes, etc.

Thus far I can say the PCV was super dirty and the water pump was leaking. Most valves needed some level of adjustment to get back in spec. But I've had several moments of looking at Honda engineering and thinking "THATS BRILLIANT".

The Aisin timing kit....$275.
The OE parts....6 Spark plugs, 2 valvecover gaskets, upper intake gasket...over $600.
Add some fluids and a new serp belt and you're over $1000 to do this DIY service.
Thank god the labor is 'free'.

Trying to get this thing back on the road after doing a mountain of neglected maintenance from the previous owner. Everytime I think it's good, she replies Not Today!

Camshaft position sensor CEL popped up on both sides, and one of the TGV's is stuck open. So we'll do a delete, and disable some more useless emissions crap. Secondary air pumps were already failing when I bought it. They are in the trash already. Should have just deleted the TGV's at the same time.

Nice I’m a Honda/Acura tech, and love doing timing belt jobs. Pays 5.5 hours, and only takes about 1.5 on this model with electric power steering. I know OEM parts are expensive, but I have also seen Aisin belts/tensioners fail.

Thanks for that note about the aisin stuff, its so mass marketed you actually don't see feedback like that....but you live this stuff and see interesting things come in all the time. And I've certainly bought junk parts in brand new packaging before.

I'm more on the 8-10 hour side with tools spread out everywhere from the last 3 projects I didn't clean up from and a TV mounted on the wall. I was joking with my friend last night how I bet this job probably books at 2.5 hours.

Last night got it all together. I didn't plug in one of the ECU connectors all the way and that gave me some post timing belt heart failure for a few minutes because it sure ran rough, and SHUT OFF after 10 seconds. OMG
Live and learn; don't be in a hurry on the home stretch! She runs smooth now!

Haha happens to the best of us. Have any trouble with the crank pully bolt? Sometimes a weighted socket and 1/2” Milwaukee impact isn’t enough, and that’s when i have to break out the 3/4” air gun with weighted socket.

^^^ Funny you mention that!!! That exact combo with the M18 impact and thick socket took a few attempts before it broke free.
This was my first dealing that required a high mass socket like that; I don't think a standard 19mm wouldve cut it!

I've been too busy to pop in and only have a chance now because weather is running rampant out here, but my close friend of 8+ years needed some work on his 2016 Acura MDX AWD. He recently had a wonderful daughter born and this is their family vehicle. When he brought it to me, I could hear both CV axles popping/banging and also noticed vertical and horizontal play in the front tires/wheels by hand. I installed new CV axles, new outer tie rods, new sway bar links and new control arm assemblies for him.
After a 6ish mile test drive, I can't hear anymore unusual noise and I ran it through the local wash for him. I hope it stays enjoyable and reliable for him after this :)
Say congrats to his new daughter, and wish him luck that he wont be back to my shop in the coming weeks LOL

My oldest has a race track Christmas Tree and it says "Our Family Tree" on the inside of his forearm. I can't find a picture right now but will add it if I can. 😊

Wasn't planning to cut any wood but a tree came down in a storm the other night and nearly took out my RV, 6" to the left and it would have been in my insurance's hands.
