A while ago I purchased a 2ga FWD shell and its been running alright, don't have the details of any mods on the ECU but definitely looks modded. Can anyone point me out, recognize what was done? FWD MD321912 ECU

Very interesting, thank you for sharing!
It was originally a 96 GST ECU. If you want to know what is on there now, you would have to read out the EPROM. Even then you might be able to read back some tables, but knowing what code changes there are would require an unchanged OEM binary to compare and see.

I haven't seen this daughterboard before. Might even be the first 2G EPROM breakout (not for ECMTuning) I've seen. Though it is built with prototyping components that got glued down, I agree it probably isn't an ECMTuning prototype. It didn't look like any of their stuff, and I don't think they would need what I am guessing is the Address Latch/Decode chip on there.

Interesting things:
- Prototype components (sockets)
- MES01710 Address latch/decoder ?
- Footprint for 32 pin DIP (28 pin socket fitted)
- Part number: M6371B ?
- Serial number: 38118135235 ?
- The choice of MH6371F which I'm pretty sure is an EEPROM chip and can be reprogrammed without needing an external EPROM. Kind of a waste of a rare chip, now that it is epoxied in.
- Writing on EPROM:
"46T55CM-SCR"
"9/4/98 XS T??"

I don't know about the details or history but I have seen this exact same board (M6371B) on EVO4 ECUs. This is the one I mentioned in the post below.
As much as I know, some shop in Japan used to do this conversion because EVO4 ECU wasn't tunable, it didn't come with EPROM or blackbox.

Ahh good info, i was just curious to see if anyone recognized it because it was the 1st time seeing one of these ecu’s like this

I have an unmodified ECU from a 1996 Mitsubishi GS-T FWD. I took a picture for you to compare. It appears your ECU was modified to allow the installation of an EEPROM. These ECUs did not come with an EEPROM socket. To be able to use DSMLink or some other brand, you need to add a socket for the EEPROM. I also included a picture of an EEPROM from ECM Tuning. It appears your ECU was modded by a company other than ECM Tuning. You should visit this site for more info:

One can't assume any other EPROM conversion will just work with ECMLink. Several vendors scramble the addressing and/data lines to make it difficult to to clone their code or hardware.

If I was going to try anything with this ECU I'd read the EPROM first and see how different it is from typical 2G ECU code. You'll be able to tell pretty quickly if they have encrypted/scrambled the code.
