No it's not perfect but who's welds are. I think it's great!!
Even Colin from toxicfab, his manifolds are not 100% penetrated. A guy on the welding forum has said it multiple times and seen if first hand.
I think ideally it's perfect from a book standpoint but from a physical standpoint it's great. IMHO of course.

Of course it will work - but in a manifold situation with the heat cycling a weld that does not have full pen or is sugared at all is likely to suffer from cracking. The failure point will just depend on how hard the OP runs his turbo, EGTs etc.

It doesn't NEED full pen. I don't think he would have any problems with this at all, even at very high boost levels.
I can bet you if you cut open a shearer or any other big name it's not a perfect weld or doesn't have full penetration in every spot.

alot of the big name companies dont get full pen and the failure rate on them is very very low (afi, full-race, bwr, etc). i know i dont get full pen on my mnaifolds everytime either.

Its very very hard to make a manifold perfect, i might even say it's impossible.... I know i haven't done one yet. Shit, full-race's machine welds don't even fully penetrate....all you can do it try you best, learn from your mistakes and continue bettering yourself from all of it. Some of us are very good, but none of us are machines.

Thanks for proving my point! None of them are perfect and it's not all that necessary. It's ideal for what to shoot for.

How do you break a cup? I think I've broke 1 pyrex by letting the torch slip off my table and maybe 1 ceramic cup from the same.

It was a ceramic. It could have slipped. I wasnt paying attention, ran a bead on alum and realized WTF, and gas lens was ruined LOL the cup just cracked off the tip in a perfect circle leaving the gas lens 100% exposed. Like a 3mm circle cracked off the tip. Guess I'll be def needing one of what you have.
