yellow top battery and an alternator?

so im thinking to buy an Optima yellow top, and im thinking that i will need a better alternator. any suggestions?

Your stock alternator should not need replacement just becaue of a yellow top battery. The alternator will put out mour than enough amps to charge the battery. And yes using a yellow top battery will save you a couple of pounds.

Yellow top saving a couple pounds? I don't know about that - I have a red top in the GSX and a yellow top in the RS and they're both heavy batteries. The red top is 35 lbs.

You don't need a better alternator to power the battery - I'm on a stock alternator with both. If you want to be blowing a 600W+ stereo for more than 15 minutes at a time with ABS, A/C, headlights.. you'll want to consider a high output alternator so you're not draining your battery. Get an ammeter for your main power wire to your amps and a voltmeter for your charging system. These will tell you when you need a high output alternator. I was thinking of AlterStart (www.4alterstart.com) since they have a 150A alternator for 2g 4g63, but some people have had problems with them. So I'll be going with a Stinger alternator.

If you want a stock alternator with higher output. Try getting one of a canadian dsm or galant vr4. They are supposed to be at 90 amps ours are at 75amps.
