thats the one i was refering to thats the only one in the bottom left of the dash so im guessing thats what dsmnt would be talking about its the engine/radiator cooling fluid level idiot light

Hey guys,
Something weird has been happening to my car lately.
Well, here it goes!
In first, second, and fourth gear, if i floor it, a yellow light comes on. It is located directly under my tachometer and its the 3rd one.
Its kind of scarry. Plus, when i floor it, it feels as if i have no power, runs fine, but no power.
Can anyone tell me what this is? Its been annoying me alot lately.
Also, my clutch slips pretty bad, but that has nothing to do with it because i could be in 2nd gear for 30 seconds and once i floor it, the light comes on and i feel like no pickup.

It's your coolant light. Check your fluid level.

but how can you explain the loss of power? Unless I just have a really bad 2nd gear that needs to be replaced?

I'm not sure if the power problem has to do with your cel. I just know which light that is. Mine's come on before. Sorry I couldn't be more help. You could check your level and see if the problem goes away with topping it off.

The radiator coolant?? And yes, my car has been getting pretty hot lately. Actually, very hot.
Within 20 minutes of driving, I cant even touch anything under the hood, I would get 3rd degree burn!

You can't run the car hot very long at all. If you have then you might have warped the head, and have a good chance of blowing the head gasket. Make sure you have enough radiator fluid asap

So a little amber light that looks kinda like a radiator has been popping on, and your engine has been running really really hot? OK I won't be a smartass, no one wants another smartass around. So check the coolant level. It's prolly low. Fill her up and badda bing. Plus if you're engine is running so hot after a bit of drivin, it can cause loss of power. If you're to the point where your engine is so hot that you're losing a noticable amount of power, then you really need to fill her up on coolant cuz she's probably pretty dry.

If you add coolant and the light still stays on, the sensor is probably covered in setiment. Just empty it and pour some alcohol in and swirl it around, then pour it out and put the coolant back in.

SHES ALIVE!!! It was quite scary, It was bone dry in there! Filled it up, drove it for 5 minutes, then refilled it back to the top.
Runs like a monster once again! And wasnt hot at all!

Congrats, be careful of that though. You might have a small leak somewhere so keep an eye out. Good job on gettin her up again tho

Just checked, and as for as I can tell, I have no leaks.
Only two leaks and getting one fixed soon. Cracked valve cover and craked exhaust manifold.
Valve cover being replaced within the next 2 days.
And saving quickly and getting a Evo III exhaust manifold and Big 16g turbo.
Cant wait!
One step closer to a completely working car .... DOH! Something else just broke! be right back!

Well, yesterday the battery light, brake light and this yellow light that's on the left side of the cluster, to the right of the CEL, lighted up. I already discussed the problems in another thread, but what I really wanted to know was the meaning of this light. I don't have the owners manual so I have no way of knowing it.

This thread describes my situation.

Another quick question though...before all of that happened, when I got to 6-6.5k RPM, all of the three lights used to light up, just for a couple seconds, before shutting down again...could it be relationed to the alternator problem?
