Hey, like the title says im thinking about going back to DSM. i used to own a 1G Eagle talon TSi. and it Was.... Alright. now what i want opinions on is should i go back to a talon but instead go with the 2g awd model? like would that car have any potential if i put money into it? or would it be one of those cars where you could toss alot of money into it and it still wouldnt have that kick your looking for?
jsut looking for opinions i Loved my Talon. so if i could i would go back, but it doesnt hurt to get opinions.

Thank you

Well both vehicles have the same motor if that's what you want to know. Just be sure to find one that wasn't beat on.

What are you looking to do with the vehicle, what are you plans/goals with the car? It's not too difficult to get around 400hp with these motors.

Re-read the grammar and spelling rules before you post again.

I don't know where to start, here we go, get one in good condition and less your money will go into restoring and more will go into modding. Get a 16g or 20g for that "kick" you're looking for.

i thought the 2g had a Different type of motor? damn it its been to long sence ive had to read up on a 1g or a 2g.

honestly im not sure, its one of those thing that i was hoping to plan as i go, In the end Drag worthy would be nice but who knows if i would ever actually get that far. Or if ill have enough money to do that.

what would you have to do to get atleast 400?

Well the talon i'm looking at now is a 1996 talon TSI AWD, has a 4G63 Turbo engine

it really comes down to what you would like to do with it really.... if you want something that will be fast off the line and pretty quick id go with the awd, if you want something fast from a roll or highway fun id go with the 1g because of it being fwd and a little lighter... if its for show id personally go with the 2g...

As Kris said already, start working on your grammar and spelling. Download IESpell or use Firefox.

So would it be a DD or track only?

We do not condone any sort of street racing or law breaking here so don't suggest it.

Okay my bad, I'll work on it.

It would most likely start out as a DD, and move up to straight track.

If you all ready owned a 1g,
Why don't get a 2g?.

Seriously There is not much difference on both of them.

You will spend the same or more money on the 1g, which is older and bushing and things are more worn.

Get a 2g and give it a try.

I guarantee you, that you will not complain.

How ever, 90% on 1g and 2g's uses almost the same parts.

I would say, (GO FOR THE 2G).

I would love to, but I'm starting to remember why i sold my 1g.
it seemed like everything needed to be fixed, or replaced. It had a ton of problems, and every time i bring the idea up to some mechanical friends of mine, they always say the same thing. Don't touch the car, don't even think about buying one.

so I'm kind of stuck in a loop and not to sure what i should do, hence why i came here.:banghead::banghead:

Wait, what? Are you saying all 1g's are FWD and only 2g's came AWD?

Actually a 1g is quite a bit cheaper than a 2g. If he plans on modding it most of that stuff SHOULD be replaced anyways. At this point in their life all dsm's have wear and tear on them.

I spent a little over a year fixing the previous owner's mistakes. My car used to brake down constantly and people would give me the, " oh it's a DSM so it'll break down" routine, now that all mistakes have been repaired y car has yet to fail me. It's going on for it's second year with only having to replace the alternator :)

But the 2g looks way better.

If you're going for serious power the 7 bolt cradle is stronger. Also 98 and 99 have revised bearings if you're worried about crankwalk.

That's why this little gem is available for us 6 bolt guys.

I got mine when I had my motor built. Honestly, I don't think the mains were honed and it's been running like a champ.
