A friend of mine put a safc II in and all he had was intake , header and exhuast ...and it made a little difference, so im assuming that a completely stock car wouldnt do too much except worsen your fuel mileage...id wait a little further down the road , plus, it all depends on your goals with the car ,too :dsm:

ok well i was just seeing and if i do get the car i was just planing on putting a turbo on it from a tsi if i can find one other then that nothing to crazy cus its going to be my dd so i can work on my 240sx.

my advice, if you want a turbo, sell it and get a GS-T or GSX. 99% of people on this forum will tell you that. especially if its going to be your DD.

also, turbos from a TSI will not work with a 420A motor, assuming thats what it is.

well if its not worth putting a turbo on it then ill probably just put an intake on it then cause ill be getting the car for around 1500 so im not going to complain and sell it just to it turbo.

What year is it? If it is a 2nd gen non turbo (95-99) then its the 420a motor, which is a good motor but if you want to turbo it is expensive. (2-3k usually). If it is a 1g (90-94) then it is a 4g63 motor which are not as expensive to turbo because you can just goto a junkyard and get all the parts (exhaust manifold, intercooler, turbo if its in good shape, and other various parts) which you could pick up for fairly cheap. I would say a 700 bucks or so at the max for all those parts.

its the 4g63 motor and thats what i was plaining on doing was just finding a turbo set up to put on just so the car is a little fun to drive. im not looking to build up a crazy car or anything thats what my 240 is for i just want a small fun car that at least has some balls. LOL

its going to cost you more money in the end to turbo a N/A car when you can buy a turbo car for cheaper.

how much could u get a tsi for with around 79,000 miles on it cus ill be paying around 1,500 for a none tubo talon with 79,000 miles

I suppose you could catch a 1g turbo awd for 2-5k for a good deal. But that low of miles i hard. 2g's are usually more expensive 3-8k. That is in my area. Denver, colorado. Look on craigslist.com im sure you will find some deals around your city.

I got a 1G turbo for $900. It was AFU (all f*ed up) though. There was one for free in the PNW (pacific northwest) not too long ago. Needed a new everything, but it was free.

People use the AFC and have success, but I don't think it's a good idea. It's basically just confusing your ECU. For another $400-500 you can get DSMlink or much cheaper an Ostrich and have the ECU control everything that it's seeing.

A turbo swap is a real pain, unless you really love your car, or the body is immaculate, it's a good idea to keep it NT, and find a turbo car.

When my turbo was stuck/not spinning on the talon, it still had balls compared to every other NT 4 cyl car I've driven (Volvo 240, Suzuki Sidekick, VW Scirocco), and even compared to some (weak) turbo ones I've driven. If you're a car guy, you won't be able to leave well enough alone, and you'll always wonder what it would have been like if you had gotten the turbo : D

well i got my car for $2300, a 90 tsi turbo; cars perfect other than it has no headliner and it smokes alittle from the exhaust(needs a new turbo valve seal). other than that the car is perfectly fine, i'm sure you can find a cheap turbo'd 1g for cheap.

thats not bad for a tsi i guess but see the other reason im getting this car is i only got a little under 4k. my insurance is going to be around 2k so i don't got much to play with money wise you guys get what i mean tho.

I picked mine up for 1800. 90 gsx 188,000 on car 26,000 on new motor with paper work from dealer ship (6000.00 for motor and labor ouch). It runs ok.

Id turbo that mo if i were you . Id go to the junk yard and pull the exausht mani, turbo ,the pipe behind the the turbo. Also the injectors, computer , fuel pump, and wiring harness, You may not need the harness. You will need the little afpr on the end of the fuel rail. Get the turbo maf why you at it. Heck ill give you one. Also get the intercooler. So i would give you a side mount and the maf if anyone else on here will give you parts and you pay for the shipping you could get off pretty cheap. But to me a dsm no mater turbo or not is worth putting a turbo on . I got a n/a and awd so no need for me to turbo my n/a . So whats the 240 run ? Cause a turbo n/a should be pretty quick. You know i have most of this stuff . Just let me know if your serious.:thumb:

the 240 ran a 14.9 spinning threw first and most of 2nd it needs widers tires it only has 195's in the back right now. im looking for some cheap wider wheels right now

Go to Newengdsm.org there were quite a few for sale if I remember. They are all guys in the Ma/Ri/NH market. I think there was a mint 2G GST red for 3000 AT Though

Here is a green one AT http://newengdsm.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16137 and its is OBO

There is also a TSI 1g for 1400 one page back and I believe it is also OBO.

Yea.

Dirt bottem prices:

--$50 exhaust manifold
--$50 MBC
--$100 used safc
--$150 450s
--$25 resistor pack for the 450s
--$30 boostgauge
--$15 pillar pod
--$150 14b turbo
--$500 intecooler/piping/BOV (or you can get a sh!tty stock sidemount and piping for $200)
--$25 o2 housing
--$100 exhaust work tying in the o2housing to the exhaust

$1195 Total

Considering misc. ordeals expect $1300. You'll have a weak tranny that can't handle the limits of the 14B compressor. You'll have to do all that work yourself. You'll have really high compression.

Again, how much can you get for your car? You can get a FWD 1g that runs for this price if you're patient. And probably have to do no more than swap in a $150 used 14b turbo or likely less.
