Well I posted something about buying a 4g63t and rebuilding it and swapping motors but would it be worth it to just have my 4g63 rebuilt???
I understand that my motor wouldnt have the oil squirter but are the motors basically the same?

a 4G63 turbo and non-turbo engines are the same except the turbo has balance shafts, oil squirters, and a hole in the oil pan for the turbo oil return line.

so basiclly if i do a total rebuild im fine other than the squirters
haha i asked someone about this who sais he is an expert with dsms and he said if i rebuilt my nt i should never talk to anyone with a dsm again hahaa so im guessing he is full of crap

your crank should be fine, if you havent spun any bearings. id still have a machine shop look at it, and have it polished

The NT 4g63 has balance shafts....

thanks
i think im just going to get a turbo head
There is no need, the engines were built exactly the same minus the oil squirters. If you get wiseco/eagle combo like stated above you won't need the oil squirters.

If you are turbocharging it, you need an injector resistor box.
and turbo ecu, knock sensor, afpr, turbo fuel pump, mbc and boost gauge

The NT pistons are higher compression and, I'm under the impression that they are not as strong. No difference between turbo and NT heads. Turbo cams are the biggest ones that came stock in a DSM. Look it up, it's in the FSM

Just build it like you would a turbo engine, don't worry about the squirters. Then get all the turbo goodies and wire/plumb them in.

Yeah, the NT pistons rings sit higher than the turbo pistons. With the rings sitting higher on the piston the ring land on top is thinner. Detonation will cause this to get brittle and well you know the rest. But this can be avoided with a very good tune and/or lower boost pressures.

I know this is an old thread but it fits here. Is there any difference in the 1g NT rings and Turbo rings? Ordering some right now, and just want to make sure. They say it applies to both NT and Turbo but you guys know your stuff better than sales reps :p. Thanks for any help!
