Ok so i just finished my battery relocation with 2ga wire all the way back.... put most everything together and now i go to start my car and it will start for a second and shut right back off. if i hold the gas down it will rev up but as soon as i let off the pedal it dies. Does anybody have an idea of what this could be.?!!!!Im dying here. please help

I checked double checked and checked again. MAF is good, connections solid, fuses are all good. i dont understand why it would start and shut off like that.

Whenever I see issues like this (assuming everything was fine before the work) it always ends up being owners error. Go back through everything and make sure everything is hooked as it should be from factory, minus the extended wires

What he said.

Maybe something grounded out or something. You can test with a meter and see where it stops getting power.

Ill check again and see whats up. I guess what im asking is what would make the car do this? If it starts i obviously have everything hooked up correctly...why would it just shut off like that?

I had a ground issue when I relocated the battery in my gvr4. Make sure you have good grounds from the motor to the frame and make sure they are clean, Maybe even add another one. As long as your power wires are hooked up correctly there shouldn't be a issue.

Check your fuses. MPI and ALT. If not sounds like a bad ground. How did you ground the battery? Did you run it back to the front? Or did u just ground it to the frame in the rear.

I ran it straight from the front of the car and did not add any extra grounds. I used 2ga butt connectors and solder for all my connections. Its all good now I also hooked up my catch can at the same time and i knocked loose my maf connector! Im an idiot. LOL Also my alt belt was squeaking for like a week and when i looked at that the nut was missing from the alt bolt closest to the engine and it was barely hanging on. I got a new one and use a locking washer this time. Anybody else had this problem?

My lower alternator bolt had actually broken off at the backing plate and the rest of the bolt/nut/washer were vibrating out toward the frame... But a 1G of my friends i am working on now has the threads in the top bracket completely stripped where it bolts to the waterpump/block

Pop the hood and make sure you plugged everything in that you pulled to do the rewire, check your MAF for sure and then every other connection.

I did, just recently in fact. I crawled under the car to do an oil change and found this. A bit scary since I'm not sure how long it had been hanging there, I was one speed bump away from a catastrophe!

Hah! Told ya, always owners error hahaha.

I too had the same problem with my alternator. Heard a funny squeaking and found that bolt workin its way out haha. Turns out there wasn't even a nut on it -__-
