So after i get my engine all rebuilt, my new LSD, my new axles, my turbo, and my Hahn portfueler setup. I don't assume i can just break the eagine in then crank up the psi. i would imagine there would be some hefty tuning and such, am i right? could someone please shine some light on this problem? if i do need to tune could someone please give me a helping hand, i'm not so good at the fine tuning, i'm more of a remove repair and reinstall type of guy.
 
you dont need new axles for your car unless ur pushing a godly amount of HP. 2nd as long as you lower ur back pressure on your pistons you should have no problem boosting higher, but it will just be a matter of time before your stock trans goes.
 
In order to tune you need to take it to a dyno... The portfueler comes with a map already on its fuel controller but I have heard from others that it isn't perfect.. go on 2gnt.com under the turbo/nitrous tech section, others have had it installed...
 
I was reading on here and alote of people said that our trans could handle alote of hp. I was wondering if that was wrong or not. If it is wrong could u tell me where as to find some tranny build up stuff? I am planning on running alote of HP, so will need the axles. i have a turbo capable of 500+ and i plan on ####hin it to the max, plus N2O, so yeah there should be some crazy hp. so can i just go to a dyno place and tell them to tune it, or will i need to be there and do all the adjustments? and once aeverything is put on can it be driven right away? not hard or with any high psi, but can it drive with out hurting it? mainly becasue i'm pretty far from any dyno shop like atleast 100 plus miles. and the portfueler is finally out and ready to be shipped?
 
Neon SOCH tranny because it is stronger
really big clutch ie.( SPEC stg5 or clutch master)
LSD (phantom grip, Quaife)
Axles(driveshaftshop)
this is what all the neon people are doing
with just these mods done to there tranny they are laying down 500-600hp
 
Iam not sure of the actual numbers but most trans are rated for triple the amount of HP the car pushes. If you want to build a trans up just give it to any tranny shop and they will do it, you dont need to find anyone special to build up a trans.

like i said your axle should be fine if your pushing below like 300hp ive never heard of such a problem with axles with non turbo ppl going turbo. if your looking for big numbers ya id look into but at that point id say #### it and buy a GSX cause your throwing away way to much money.

What are you talking about, just because your car is slow doesn't mean you have to discourage others!!!... If this is the first time you have modified an engine don't give advice like you know everything. People here are trying to learn how to make their car go faster, don't discourage them to buy a different car. If you think the 420a can't throw down some numbers you are an idiot. I know people that have cars between 400-500whp and mine is currently at 300+...
 
Thank you turboed420A, the guys that have the 400 are they runnin the Neon tranny? if yeah do u have any idea where to get one? Do u think our factory tranny's can handle the power? with nice clutch and LSD?
 
Yes our tranny's can handle to power BUT the neon sohc tranny is stronger.
I would say look on ebay for a neon sohc tranny.
You would have to get a clutch that can handle the power you are looking for and a good LSD to hold up to the power also I would say get a Quaife, YES it is expensive but it will be worth it in the long run.

im not discouraging them to sell there 420a and buy a GSX or a GST i know the 420a is a good engine or else i would have gotten it. Im aware the 420a Block is stronger than the 4g63 and it can produce big numbers, its just it takes alot of $$ to get to that point, if its for pride of your car and your willing to do it go ahead, if you dont care what you have and your looking/trying to get big numbers out of little cash its not gonna work. This engine needs alot of work, and if your gonna tell me a super60 turbo 420a is slow than your car must be the slowest turbo 420a on earth.

the portfueler map bill provides does need tuning. its good for a base.. thats about it.

most 400hp crank 420a's are running the neon tranny. i am. found mine at a local junk yard. 3000 miles on it, 500 bux with 90 day warranty.

i blew it up about 2 months later at the track. :(

rebuilt it.. good to go. the mitsu tranny grenaded a long time ago...
