My interior lights don't come on when the doors are open, just when the hatch is. I assumed the door switches were dirty or corroded so I went to clean them.
I looked at the switch in the door jam, and there were two wires coming from it. A green one with a pink stripe and a Yellow one with a white stripe. For some reason, the yellow one has been pulled out by the previous owner. I checked the green wire with a multimeter, and it has about 15V, same as my battery. I tied a wire on to what is left of the yellow wire and grounded it, and the interior lights came on. So basically the circuit I made is this:
The hot green wire is grounded when the door switch connects it to the yellow wire, since the yellow wire is grounded. Is this the correct way to wire that? It didn't seem right to me that simply shorting out the signal wire was the correct way to do this, but maybe it is. Any advice on where the yellow wire is SUPPOSED to go?
Thanks!!!
