Ive run it to some problems with the wiring harness on my 91 talon tsi. It seems that the previous owner cut off two plugs that go to the thermostat housing. I can not figure out how to attach these wires without a plug. Any help would be appreciated. Pics are attached. Thanks in advance.

If you don't mind being a bit ghetto then look into the connector, the pins should look like this: | |, go to any car audio shop and find some spade connectors that are the right size and solder them to the wires, heatshrink them and you should be good.

a/c??? No. That is the coolant temp sensor for the ECU I believe. Your temp gauge is the smaller one beside that. Find one at the junkyard and cut the pigtail off it. Any eclipse, talon, laser whether it is n/t or turbo should have the same sensor and pigtail.

Ah okay that makes sense. I tried to go to the local junkyard, the only 1g dsm that they had there had the wiring harness already removed from the vehicle

Listen the one on top is for the ac,the other 2 wire one on the bottum of the housing is for the ecu, then the one for the guage is a single wire
The thermoswitch turns the rad fans on its located on the bottum of the radiator 2 wire connector,

Why would you have a coolant sensor for the a/c that doesn't make any sense. :tease:

From the auto zone link, it shows that the connector i have circled is for the fans. And the one on the bottom is for the CTS. I know i can probably connect the CTS without a plug. But which color wire would go to each prong.

well the ac control module uses the sensor to monitor engine temp,in case the car over heats the ac control module will shut the ac off,(thats providing that the ac is on when the engine overheats). But if you need a wireing diagram shoot me a pm and i can fax you one if thats works for you

So your saying if I unplug that my a/c will stop working?

Well seriously you're still mistaken,i'm not guessing and i dont think i know LOL go outside look at the bottum of the radiator you will see a 2 pin connector, its called the thermo switch unplug it jump the two wires in the connector, then turn the ignition on and you will see the rad fan come on.As for the sensor in the pic you showed, its for the ac, i took off my ac so mine is disconnected,i can go check for you which wire goes where since you are in doubt.

I am at work right now and car is at home. If knowbody else posts them, I will look at it later and post around 7-8:00 EDT

You know what i have an old harness i've chopped for parts i can cut out the connectors for you with a piece of the wireing and mail them for you just pay shipping

96eclipzGsT Please don't confuse 1G and 2G's. What was asked is about a 1G and that's the sensor for the AC computer. As has been pointed out the radiator fan on a 1G uses a thermoswitch mounded in the bottom of the radiator next to the lower hose.

The other two coolant temp sensors on a 1G are the single connector one for the gauge cluster and a lower two connector sensor for the ECU.

Links to the 1G and 2G factory manuals are in the DSM FAQ section of the site. Please download them, the information will save you countless aggravation and money. Click on the Tech menu at the top of the page.

Where are the manuals I can't find them and would like to download for future reference. This is the only article I have found for that sensor and it shows as a coolant sensor, that can't be right?

First,i dont think this is a 1g housing,
Second the pic shows the lower housing, the op sensor pictured in this thread is at the top of the thermostat housing, meaning it you were to change the thermostat that sensor would come out with the upper housing when changing the thermostat.

My computer will not let me download the manuals. If someone can put this into simple terms for me i will be able to figure this out. So i can ditch the top sensor i have circled in the picture in my original post and tape the wires off that are supposed to go to that sensor? They are not needed unless you have a.c?
