wiring coil pack effects starting

i recently bought a '95 eclipse 2.0 n/t , the plug on the coil pack had been replaced but was installed poorly. The wires were spliced together and one did not have a good connection. I reconnected the wires with butt connectors and after doing so the car starts like it is out of time and is very hard to get started, but when it does finally start it runs perfect. Before i did this it started just fine with no problems. The plug is off a different model and the colors on the three wires are different than the car.......what did i do wrong?

the ecu might be having a hard time reading it. try having a diagnostic ran on it. its free at any autoparts store. just ask them and they will test it out for you and print off the codes as well.
