Hi I got a turbo off a parts car that seems pretty big I was wondering if I could throw it on my spyder and make it faster? I have no idea what turbo it is it says
M12 on it and a/r .50 From the looks of it it should just bolt up. The spyder has a FMIC, Hks bov and I belive a wally 150 fuel pump I don't know of anything else that I would need besides maybe a 3" full exhaust which I got on the parts car I could use if need be.

And could I use the stock waste gate with this as well?

im not sure I do have a exhaust mani that gose with that turbo it has a aftermarket waste gate but if I can use my stock w/g then I can just take that aftrmrkt off and block the opening off.

heres the mani

That's a chinese knockoff turbo. That is one of the cheaper ones advertised on Ebay. I would not run that thing on my car in a million years. It will not work with a stock wastegate actuator. If that was a real turbo, you would need some bigger injectors like 680s or maybe larger. You would also need a method of controlling your fuel delivery, like an SAFC, MAFT, or DSMLink.

ahh that sucks guess I will slap it on ebay and try to get some money out of it then. I don't really want to buy a bunch of mods for the spyder I spent almost 9k on my gsx and its not running right. I figerd I ask before selling it. I wonder how I would make the car a little fast the way it is now I think is has a 14b/16g turbo on it. But it doesn't seem fast at all. Seems bout like my old white stock gst was back on day one when I bought it about 8 years ago

Your Spyder is quite a bit heavier than a non drop top car would be due to the added bracing and such that it takes to keep the chassis rigid without a solid roof.

Even the 14b should be able to give you some fun driving. If you have an upgraded fuel pump and some bigger injectors, you should get something to tune with. Get a wideband o2 sensor setup so you can make sure you don't lean out, and then get like an SAFC2 or SAFC Neo and tune that way. You'd be mighty surprised what even a 14b will do @ 20psi.

Also ----> http://www.ebay.com/itm/DNA-T3-T4-T...Parts_Accessories&hash=item19ca566770&vxp=mtr Look familiar?
Honestly I don't think you'd get more than 80 bucks out of that turbo. If you work an office job maybe you could use it as a paperweight.. quite literally.

I got some 1100cc injectors those will be to big I bet LOL I will put a MBC on the spyder and turn it up to 20psi and call her good.

I'm pretty sure anything over the 600's range is too big for a MAFT or SAFC to control without running into timing problems. Again though, I'm doubting that your stock injectors are going to allow you to run 20PSI. If you just crank the boost up blindly you are asking for a world of hurt. :|

Ok maybe 15psi? seems like my stock gst was doing 12 psi back in the day and my buddies gsx was doing 15psi and he didn't have injectors or a tuner either. So I just keep it low then call it good.

Those other cars have at least 450cc injectors in them from the factory and richer fuel mixtures. Your car has 330cc injectors. I wouldn't boost any more than 10 psi at the very most with a small turbo. You will run out of fuel real fast. If you want to go turbo than you are going to need at least injectors and a way to tune them at the bare minimum.

I do have some 450s I think in the gst I got for parts. I read that anything under 600 doesn't need tuners so 450cc u would think wouldn't hurt nothing.

Check out the upgrade paths and search the forums for information about modifying a car. You mentioned you spent 9k on your gsX and it isn't running right, maybe because your not to familiar with modifying and tuning these cars. It is really easy to mess something up, I know. A 16g or even a 14b can make your car a "little" faster, just need to get your supporting mods and a means of tuning.

14b, 660, Wally 190 (to retain stock fpr), dsmlink, wideband, boost controller and gauge, strait pipe (stock exhaust would be ok for your needs), 1g BOV, and some hard pipes if you want to save money. You can also do free mods like porting your exhaust manifold and hot side, and o2housing to flow well with each other. And if you really want you can spend a little extra and get a Fmic, but it's not needed.

Hope you can figure it out and make your car how you want it to enjoy it, I know how it feels to want it right but it not be right. It took me a while to get my cars to where there at, but well worth it in hone end and it's all because of this site and ecmlink forums to where my knowledge was formed, and hands on of course. Just keep at it,

God bless,

Anthony B.

yeah my gsx it has dsm link but was tunened buy the shop there in Oklahoma city coasted me a fortune but it ran right for awhile then took a dump one day and never run right since. I didn't change nothing or mess with the tune. So something changed on the car. I will probly just leave the spyder the way it is then may throw the 3" exhaust on there don't know if it help.

Good luck....they're roughly $130 new, so a used one is worth somewhere between scrap and $50.

I will put a MBC on the spyder and turn it up to 20psi and call her good.
Honestly, I expected more from someone who joined this site before I did. :|

last time I used this site was like in 2010 maybe 09 and only been one here handful of times.

Take a step back and do some reading/learning.

For someone who "dropped 9k on a GSX", your asking some really naive questions and making some awful remarks about setups and modding. I'm not surprised it doesn't run right, TBH.

Knowledge is power.

Wow such hate here no wonder people talk bad about these fourms to bad there wasnt some other sites where help is given and lazy posted non since is not. Thanks to the few that offerd help rest of useless posters can go f__k selfs

Handful of times and you have 475 posts?
Read more. Waste our time less.

Umm yeah compared to 11,746 post id say a handfull

And work wasnt done by me moron so 9k later yeah im suprized its not running right eather :boring:

Some of those "useless posters" have been doing the DSM/fast car game for a long time. I'd venture they've already been there/done that and don't log on here just to talk out of their ass.

Maybe consider taking their almost professional and free advice before ragging on members here.

Go ahead and crank the boost to 20psi on stock injectors and enjoy smacking your face into the steering wheel when fuel cut hits.

Pro advice fron useless smart ass comenets hell I get better advice from ehow LOL thanks but no thanks

OP: Invest in dsmlink or a way to tune(not a SAFC). I think thats the best place for you to start considering you have 1100cc injectors you kind of have to get a real tuning solution. I have to agree, i would never run that turbo. If your mani is dsm flanged then just pick up a 16g or a 14b. You'll be plenty happy. Get that wastegate turned around too! ha JK bud, that was mentioned in the other thread, i know you're aware of it.

Sum up: Make sure what kind of pump you have, next get a tuning solution preferably link v3(IMO), get a MHI turbo or if thats a t3 mani and you want to go down that path right now, get yourself a holset with a BEP hotside. Other little things but thats the main stuff you need to worry about atm. Good luck sir

Well first off the reason that so many are hesitant to give good info is because of people like you who don't take the advice. Why sit there and type something out when the guy just sits there and doesn't listen. There is also the issue that 99 percent of questions have been asked and answered 100 times already on this site. People forget to search than ask the same questions day after day after day after day. It goes both ways. If you want good help than you need to be informative, be appreciative, use your head and don't ask stupid questions, and be willing to learn something. Stupid questions will usually get stupid answers. This site might have it's issues, but it is by far the best dsm site on the ole interweb. In fact it is one of the best car specific forums to ever exist. You will not find a scenario that someone on here hasn't encountered. There is so much information stored in the old threads on this forum that no where else could ever compete. You should go try out dsmtalk, or dsmsource, or some other vehicle specific forums and see how that goes.
