will o2 bypass/simulator keep cel off

My friend had a reoccurring CEL from the rear o2 sensor after getting an exhaust with no cat. He put one of the "spacer" type simulators where you screwed the o2 sensor into it, and then screwed that into the bung. His hasn't thrown a code for almost a year now. YMMV

Before you stick your money into a simulator. First put on the testpipe and even see if you throw a CEL. I have had a testpipe on my car now without an O2 simulator for about years now.... not 1 CEL.

i am running and full apexi n1 exhaust with a apexi down pipe so there's nowhere to put in a test pipe unless i cut up my exhaust

What I mean is you're not running a cat, correct? And have you installed this downpipe yet? Are you throwing cars after the install?

Yes it's installed so no i'm not running a cat( the apexi only has a resonator and a muffler) Yes i've installed the downpipe. And yes i'm throughing codes after install.

One more question with the simulator do you leave the o2 sensor in or do you plugg the bung?

The whole point of the o2 simulator is to simulate readings for the ECU to read. This is usually installed when you can't have an o2 sensor installed. So you don't need to install your o2 sensor. You can even (if you want) take and cut the plug off your o2 sensor so that way your simulator is plug 'n play. Or go to your local junkyard and get an o2 sensor just for the plug.

The forth image down in this tech article will show you how to wire it and also connect it to the plug you cut off the sensor (if you want to):
