Just a quick noob question....

Get a set of PTE 1600's for free, and wanna put them in my 1G thats on DSMLink V2 using V3 software. Its on the 1G hacked MAF, 14B, Sidemount. Wanna run E85 on it at about 20psi. Got a walbro in the tank. Just thought id check before i went out and put em in. I know V3 will run em, but didnt know if DSMLink was gonna be fine.

14B and E85?

Pass on the 1600's and get 1150's

You'll be much happier with the drivability

With dsmlink you can run whatever injectors you want. As long as they are quality injectors you can make your car idle and run like stock. There is no such thing as "too much injector" when using dsmlink. Here is an e-mail response I got from Tom Dorris, the owner of dsmlink when I asked him a similar question in regards to a 14b:

FWIW, I've run FIC 2150s on my own 16G car for several months. They were the best idling and most well behaved injectors I've ever owned, but they were *clearly* over kill for my turbo. I only removed them because a good friend of mine need them. They will be going back on shortly.

The point being, that the streetability of the injector is a property of the injector itself. You don't need to worry about an injector being "too big" for your turbo.

Also good choice on E85 with your knock issues.

Hope this helps!

It's not a matter of too much injector it's the fact that the 1600's have a VERY non linear flow rate at low pulse widths (well documented along with the resulting issues on the Link forums)

He can get something larger or something smaller, just avoid the 1600's

I have heard that argument before but it depends on the brand. Not all 1600's suck. That's why I said "quality injectors".

OP, You will have to read up on those PTE's, hopefully find someone running them and see what they say about them.

Also there are a lot of guys running 1600's on this thread:

I made 527 on a single 255 rewired and 1600 injectors. If you were shooting for less than 500 it will be fine but if you ever want to make more you will be in my shoes now re-doing the entire setup.

You might max those injectors out though. My car runs fine and so does the red 1g (945liter) which is also on 1600s. You may have just had bad injectors. I bought mine for 200$ and then took them to RPM diesel to have them cleaned and flow tested. Throw in a AFPR and a new fuel filter and you have a fuel setup ready to go for under 500$.

The new pump I'm getting is close to 700$ and I have to re do everything now so make sure you know what you're gonna want to do with your car in the future.

I have Precision 1600s as i think Richard does too, are you sure you just did not dial them in correctly? they're a bit more of a PITA then 1000cc childplay injectors:tease:

I have 1600cc injectors and a re-wired 255 walbro and i am just starting to go lean at 400hp on a mustang dyno. I do not see this pump keeping up with anymore power.

Yep I totally agree. Sell the 1600's and buy some FIC's.

I heard all the same things with PTE 1600 in regards to my honda. While trying to run pump gas...yes the driveability and idle quality was junk, but switching to E85 that requires minimum of 30% more fuel than pump it sped up the idle and part throttle injector speed and made my honda that was on E85, 1600's and crome run and drive like a bone stock car. So if the low injector speed is the biggest issue, i think ill be ok. Ill just throw em in and give it a whirl and report back.

Oh, and its kind of hard to pass up FREE PTE 1600's. LOL

Seems to be working for me. The size of the turbo has nothing to do with the drivability with the injectors. Whats the difference between a hx40 out of boost and a 14b out of boost? My car drives and idles fine. I wouldn't say like stock but its drivable.
