LOL , funny. i have some more news for you guys.

i took a run tonight. prolly about 70 degrees, nice weather.
anyway, i punched it and got it up to about 100 mph. the egt's never rose about 900 celsius. mayb 920 b/w shifts but thats it. it was pritty happy about that. do u think the egts were so high that day because we had done 18 or so runs on the car?

Tyler

a friend of mine is gunna let me borrow a data logger. anything i shood look for.

Burning ALL the way down after the ignition stroke BURNING all that excess gas.

Your not gonna get away from that EGT thing till you get 550's or bigger and get it adjusted properly.

I am done replying to this thread.

I have an auto spyder and I had a simalar problem at first. I was running a 50 trim and it was at 8 psi. I was making 210 at 18 psi tuned pretty rougly without an fmic. Stock auto I belive has somewhere around 160 horse at 12 psi stock. I was only at 8 psi on a 50 trim and I still had a considerble amount of power more then stock. I didnt run higher then 8 psi becasue the car was knockin pretty bad and seemed to have spark problems.

Im sure you have more power then the dyno just becasue your not gettin forced air into the intercooler. Not much tho.

Now my current problem is that my settings are so lean and I only have 550s and my etgs are only 1400 that Im afriad to lean it out more. My car seems to be running pretty rich. No matter what. I think the leanest it is is around -23 on the SAFC. I also had my car dyno tuned and Im around 14 psi now. Not sure what the horse is becasue I just needed tuning.

Another question. Do you like your auto? Had any problems racing cars? I seem to take out alot of cars, but I do have a considerable amount of mods. People find out its auto and their like wtf do you have done. Get on aim and talk to me sometime. Im curoius to talk to another auto spyder. :thumb:

kool, nice to see another modded automatic. i love my automatic, especially here in south florida. i havent really been able to race anyone because there has always been something that needs to be done in order to go WOT. right now its the injectors.

is it a drag driving the automatic with such a big turbo around town?

i put u on my buddy list, just waitin for you to go online. mine is tlv11

Its kind of a problem in traffic becasue of spool up, but honestly just driving around town is perfect. I usually hit full boost around 3500 rpms. And It starts buidling boost really low so its ok.

First off Isn't that close to the melting point of alumenum?? 2nd the LAST thing I would think you would do is lean out 450cc injectors @ 18psi... man 450cc at 100% duty cyl isn't enough for 18psi on the stock intake & fuel system why the HELL is he leaning it out even more?????

(I didn't read more than the original posters post so if this has been said already sorry)

yep its been said. i am pretty sure that its close to the melting point LOL :(. but 550's goin in asap. they were leaning it out because my air fuel was still very rich. but they were not lookin at the timing.

Tyler

Melting point of aluminum is more like 800C, but that is really irrelevant with all the oil/coolant going through the head.

Just as a note, when I was on stock injectors, I had mine leaned out about 10% at 18 psi on a 14b. The stock maps are very rich.

turn that boost down to 12 - 13 psi until you get at least 550 to 660cc injectors in there, I bet you can make more power at lower boost than 18 - 19 psi you are running now, your car is in no shape to run that kind of a boost with stock injectors and especially with PUMP GAS. I would be surprised if your timing is above 10 - 11 ever... I would take my car to somewhere else if I were you. Please get a datalogger ASAP and see what your timing is doing before increasing the boost.

i picked up the 550's today. they r goin in prolly later on this week.

but the car pulls like crazy. i dont let it get too high in the rpms though when i do push it a little.

i know wut needs to be done, and i will post my new numbers when i get em

He's normally super knowledgeable. I mean, he did build a 4G63 engine that's putting out 800+ HP for their FWD race car. Something's amiss...

Maybe he doesnt like competition?

I went with 650 Ball style from extremepsi for $315 from my state IT refund.
Hope to go 12's in street tune...daily.
GSXTACY

I noticed you mentioned "ball" style over "pintle" whats the advantage to using that kind? I'm ignorant help me out. I cant run over 10psi without timing being pulled right now. BTW I have a EVOIII that I would like to take to around 350-360 are 550's enough? Or should I go 650/660?

Check out this site.

www.fuelinjectorclinic.com

they have flow charts ( I think ) for a ball style injectors vs. a pintle style of the same size, and the ball style flows the exact same as a pintle style injector with a lower duty cycle and a better spray pattern.

Better Atomization+lower cycle= HP.

GSXTACY

*correction.....no flow chart....anyone help me out here???

when i went to get my injectors the other day i drove there, to Fuel injector clinic in Jupiter an hour from my house. the guy showed me the fuel injectors fitting into a 1g head. guy seemed really cool.

Tyler

i hear the fic injectors r just as good as the best of em out there right?

i went to go ahead and tune the car with the 550's in, and the guy still said i did not need them. he didnt really give them a chance though. we only did 2 or 3 pulls with them which is not enough to see the potential in the injectors. also , the dyno jet has no way of seeing what my timing is. so he told me to throw the 450's back in.

so in the end, he told me to leave the injectors in, and i did :(. it still didnt feel right, so i went to get it logged. i found that i was only get 1 degree of advanced timing at 5500 rpms with 64 % throttle. its gotta be the injectors so i am going to just 4get what that guy was saying and go ahead and try to do this on my own.

so when i install the 550's set the afc to -18% and that is like setting the afc at zero with 450's? when my friend with the datalogger comes back down i am gunna do some logging with him.

i know you guys must be aggitated with me. u have all been saying the same things all along. its just hard to argue with a guy who ran a 9.5 with his fwd car.

Pretty close. You will be making more power though with the larger injectors due to the lower airflow and subsequently higher timing.

i have been reading countless posts on peoples afc settings with 450's and 550cc injectors.....

seems like no1 is really close to where im at except one guy that lives nearby me. he has all the same mods as me except he doesnt have a front mount intercooler and he has an upgraded fuel line. he also has dsmlink.

he did logging on his car. at 15 psi, he is at 95% duty cycle but still running pig rich. (seems to be my same situation) is a 98 gst automatic like me.

anyway we r going to install my 550cc injectors, zero out my afc, put his dsm link in, and tune and log. once we r done, we will take the dsm link out, and write the numbers down we got and put those into the afc.

wut do u guys think?

Tyler

Tyler, we went over this already. Gary is just telling you what you want to hear. I go there now when i have time just to learn more about these cars.
