I am looking into geting an EGT for my car and was wondering which ones people have and how they like them or would suggest a different. thanks guys
 
I wouldn't even bother. I have a Westach and I barely use it, and if I do use it, the EGT temps dont even correspond with the timing/knock counts on the logger. Datalogger and boost is all you need and wideband if you can afford it.

I'll agree. If you're gonna spend money for an EGT, pony up a little and get a wideband.

EGT's give readings based on too many factors to tune with. They make great dummy lights for when its going all bad, but don't tell why. Get a wideband, get your air fuel right, use a logger to read fuel trims, knock, timing advance, intake temps. Then you can tune. Trying to tune fuel using exhaust temps leaves to much unknown.

As a danger guage an EGT is great. For tuning its dangerous.

I'll agree with that. When I first got my EGT gauge, my readings were very high, so I thought I was running lean and getting timing pulled. After heading out to the dyno, I discovered that it was because I was running super rich (leftover combustion still happening as exhaust gases exited into the manifold). After leaning out considerably, EGTs came back in line.
