Will an EVO steering wheel Fit? [Merged 3-7]

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Also -

Please note that MOMO also has a "Millennium Evolution" steering wheel, which has a redesigned "hub"/horn area.

It is also not to be confused with the EVO VIII steering wheel, and it also does not come with an airbag option.

I said it once already, when I resurrected this thread, but let me re-iterate this:

I DO NOT CARE ABOUT AN AIR BAG!

Do we have a confirmed sighting EVO8 Steering wheel in a DSM?

Searching the site yields a hole bunch of “yes” answers, but they are clearly from people who haven’t actually done this. I really hope that this thread can shed some light on this question once and for all...

GRNDSM -

Think we just got crossed-up in our posts. :coy: I was just backing up your own research that the two wheels cited above were not one and the same, that's all. :)

To date, I've not had an EVO VIII wheel in DSM sighting. :(

Neither do we, but the hub adapter people apparently do.

And again, no. They do not directly fit. The diameter and/or spline count does not match.

Well, I had. But no one believed me.
Interestingly, besides calling Mitsubishis "Mistubishi", they don't seem to list any adapters for cars which have airbags (look at the years)

http://www.shopmomo.com/hubadapterapp.html

Although 1G and 2G both have the same hub.

Did you actually try fitting it yourself? If not, do you have a source for this information?

Sorry to be a pain about this, but there seems to be so many misconceptions on this topic, that I want to be 100% sure

Wait a minute... Is this a Momo Millenium steering wheel in the photo or the OEM EVO steering wheel?
I know it's not the Evo8 wheel. But the Evo8 wheel is made by Momo, and so is the millenium. They are based off the same design. Good enough for me. ;) Sorry if that threw some people off.

Airbag.

As I posted the first time, the adapter sites list a different number for the adapter hub between Eclipses and Lancers.
This would mean they are not the same.
There are many hubs that have the same part number, even among different manufacturers. Since all Momo hubs use a 6-screw mounting circle, and all of the same diameter, I deduce that the difference will be in the hub splines and/or shaft diameter. I think all Momos use the same "safety" design with collapsible spokes in the hub.

No, I do not have a $1200 Evo wheel here to check with.

It's just the web. It's just the web. It's just the web. :|

No, that would not mean that they are different... To me, that looked like they weren’t sure what EVO was using, because it wasn't a “solid” part number. You are assuming that they know what they are talking about. I have been burned way too many times by clueless companies to make the same assumption. Which is why I am asking for someone who has done this swap or at least attempted to...

Yes, this is a $1200 from the DEALER! Just like a t-25 is $1300 from Mitsu... But who in the right might would ever buy it from the dealer?

You can pick up a used EVO steering wheel for $50-$100... So, everyone, please stop calling it a $1200 steering wheel!

Wow...sorry to bring back a dead thread but for starters, the MITSIBUSHI Lancer Evolution 8+ steering wheel which is designed by MOMO is not 50-100 dollars. It can be found on ebay for no less then 300.

I was told over on DSMTalk that it would not fit, I also read on here that it would not fit due to the spines having a different count, yet I saw a link posted with a picture of a 2g GST with the Evo 8 MOMO on it...WTF?

... Well, first of all this ish was confusing as hell. THe poster above me, and most anyone else that read your post would think you were talking about wheels..

STEERING wheels are a different thing.

Specify.

That is correct. The EVO 8 STEERING wheel will not fit per se. It can be MADE to fit though. There is a post on DSM Talk that goes through this. The person basically had to cut the center section containing the splines off of his wheel and welded that piece onto the EVO wheel. That's why it fit.

Well I did search but the only answers I came up with were about the evo8 steering wheels not fitting. So my question was will the Evo3 momo steering wheel fits on our 2g's?

I found a picture of a 2g with it. But the picture is from a Japanese auction so I cant ask the person questions. Anywas this is what it looks like.

Here is another picture of just the steering wheel.
