Will an EVO steering wheel Fit? [Merged 3-7]

Anyone know if a Lancer Evo 8 steering wheel would be a direct replacement for the steeing wheel on my '97 Elcipse?
I think the Evo's steering wheel looks a little better then the one I have now. And I can still use my airbag. I don't want it to explode in my face when I'm uninstalling it. Thanks!

good question, I have no idea someone really needs to try it though, but I think its going to be expensive! try to get one from a totaled car and the air bag is still good
I also like the wrx momo steering wheel, but I think the evo VIII is cooler

Also, will the 3 spoke from the gen3 eclipses fit also? I love 3 spokes, but I want an airbag, I don't feel like smashing my face off a metal steering wheel just in case

*edit*: the reason I ask, is I need a smaller wheel, I am 6'4" with a 36" inseem and my legs don't have much room (enough...but close) and when I buy my car, I would like to be able to drive it

are the EVO or GEN3 wheels smaller? thanks again

Yea, nevermind, , maybe the 3g wheel... but I dunno if it's smaller, but I like the way it looks... anybody know of any aftermarket wheels with airbags?

The LAST goddamned thing I need during a crash is a fking bomb going off in my face while I'm trying to avoid the 2nd, 3rd and more impacts. And now with the curtains and sidebags coming on, it's gotta be like getting caught in a 120db pillow fight... or being gang-blasted by Berkeley cops using riot gun beanbags.

Yea maybe you're right, My dad is a stickler for 'perfectly legal' stuff and I don't really know the laws for that stuff...i should be checking those out i guess. The car is mine, but it's partly his insurance, and if he doesn't like it, I don't get it cuz he'll drop me from insurance...it sux, but oh well

Ok I Finally got to drive a new EVO this weekend...the car is sick but for 27000 I will keep my Eclipse. Anyway my question is does anyone know if the EVO steering wheel will fit a 97 Eclipse? I would like to have a nice steering wheel and still keep my airbag. Let me know

I've been wondering about this too. I saw that the fellas over at Supraforums have been doing the swap for the new Celica wheels. Looked sweet. Anyone know if it will work?

There's the spline count and diameter to start with, does it have the same number of wires in the clockspring as we go along, and just to finish it off, have you considered the cost of one of those wheels?

You'll soon see the "fit" isn't the problem.

From the hub adapter chart, it looks like the new Lancer is different from DSMs:

Those steering wheels are super expensive. A friend of mine has a Lancer, he works at a mitsu dealership and has been adding a few Evo accents. He looked into the wheel and the price that he got with his employee discount was $1000. THat was just the wheel and air bag. Good luck fitting it up.

Wait a minute... Is this a Momo Millenium steering wheel in the photo or the OEM EVO steering wheel? EVO might use Momo Millenium wheel, but they probably eliminated the adapter went with a custom wheel that mounts directly to the EVO spline shaft. OR... selected EVO shaft to match Momo Millenium wheel... In which case, we might still need an adapter.

Granted, Millenium wheel is more attractive, but you can pick up EVO wheels pretty cheap (unlike what many people think...)

*_THAT_* is -definitely- NOT a Mitsu EVO VIII steering wheel. It's a MOMO Millennium.

How can I be so sure?

(1) The URL of the picture is directly linked to that of an ad for the Millennium, and
(2) I also own that very steering wheel, first installed on my '92 Eclipse GS DOHC, and is now on my '95 TSi.

This steering wheel does -NOT- come with an airbag nor is a retrofit of an airbag unit into it possible without extreme modification.
