will a AWD clutch work in a FWD tranny?

Go to autozone.com or advanceautoparts.com and see if the clutch part numbers are the same for a 1g awd and a 2g fwd. That's how i check for part interchangeability.

correct. All 90-99 turbo dsm clutches should be the same.

Yes it will work, but you might want to check out the condition of the clutch disc and pressure plate before buying. Buying a used clutch is not usually recommended unless you know how many miles are on it and how it was driven.

the guys above posted correct. The clutches are the same, flywheel's are different with AWD/FWD and 6/7 Bolts.

All 4g63 clutches are interchangeable. 1g or 2g, AWD or FWD, turbo or NT. As long as its a 4g63 the clutch will swap.

yeah im going to buy his 6bolt motor from him it was rebuilt only like 3 months ago and has very little miles on it and it is from a GSX so will i need to take my flywheel off my 7bolt GST and put it on the 6bolt motor sence it came out of a AWD?

also the clutch i belive is about 3 months old as well but i will make sure

This is not in reference to your clutch but wile your in there you should look for hot spots in your fly wheel. You'll not want to run a slipping clutch more thens necessary.

Be aware of any discoloration thats visible from both side of the flywheel friction surface. They are signs of bad clutch abuse. Hot spots that made there way through the entire disk are bad.

NT clutches are not interchangeable. The nt flywheels aren't stepped as the turbo's are, so their clutches are designed specifically to work with that flywheel and are 100% non-interchangeable. Take it from someone who's tried just about every combination.

I'm surprised nobody said anything about this. The answer is no, you can't take a 7 bolt flywheel and put it on a 6 bolt engine. As someone else said before:

6 bolt awd
6 bolt fwd

7 bolt fwd
7 bolt awd

Those are your flywheel choices for turbo applications. Since you have a GS-T and you're going to swap in a 6 bolt, you need a 6 bolt fwd flywheel. I recommend ACT or Fidanza if you don't have a lightweight flywheel already.

To the OP - Just so you know, the way to tell the difference between a 6 bolt and 7 bolt is to look at the flywheel. A 6 bolt engine will have a flywheel held on by 6 bolts. And a 7 bolt engine will have a flywheel held on by 7 bolts.

I am going to assume you meant flywheel instead of clutch, because as stated above the turbo dsms all use the same clutch 90-90 fwd and awd. Stated above also there are 4 different flywheels, you can tell the difference between a fwd flywheel and an awd flywheel by the ring gears are 2 different diameters, the fwd is bigger around than the awd.(the part the starter hits). This is only considering the turbo modles, the fwd turbo and NT 1G flywheels are different also.

dad blast it now im going to have to buy a 1g 6bolt fwd flywheel
its already costing me $2100 for the motor + big28 tubro and the 350 whp clutch

btw do u guys thank thats a good deal ?

the motor probly has no more the 2-3k miles on it and the tubro i priced them around $500 and the clutch not sure how much they cost
