SSAutochrome has been ripping guys off for a long time now and people keep going back for more, honestly I don't know why. I'm gonna start selling junk too cause obviously people buy it and keep buying it and seem to want to defend it even though it's been proven junk 10,000 times. Yet they keep going back...

I don't think anyone is "hating". No one on here is jealous of SS Autochrome; however, companies like AMS for example, are pissed off that some idiots who more than likey nothing about cars just went and ripped off their hardwork. That would piss me off if I owned a shop and they did that. I think you would be, too.DarkLaser said:You guys need to stop hatin. I've had one of these on my laser for almost two years now and teh only thing I had an issue with is the wastegate hitting the powersteering pump, wich was fixed with a carbide wheel and a welder. It took me all of 20min. to fix it. I have since driven my car to newyork twice(600 miles) and I drive my car daily. I also live down a 1/4 mile dirt BUMPY driveway wich I'm sure puts all kinds of stress on that manifold. I actually weighed all the crap that the manifold has to carry and it was close to 50 pounds. SO.....yes I have a SSautochrome manifold, yes I like it, and I did notice a power increase. NO CRACKS AT ALL YET with over 50,000 miles on it I dont think it will. Oh ya and yes it looks waaay better than any cast manifold can ever dream of being.
) but after cin that turbo WTF I hope I didn't make a bad choice, which mind you I am aware that I probably did but looking at the feedback, true first hand feedback, I'd say 70 to 75% of people who have them have had no problems and are completly happy. I'll start a thread with the life of my header and O2 with pics and try to keep it updated (if thats cool with the mods) Ohh and dont flame me for how I spend my money please, that's why its mine.

Nevertheless, if the import/compact sceen is turning into a bunch of cheap, wannabe, no-namer bullshit parts, then I don't want to be a part of it. What would happen if people were so cheap and impatient that the majority of tuners bought crap like SS? People like SBR, AMS, RRE, would be hurtin'. And if they go out of business, SS Autochrome is screwed, too. No one to do their R&D for them. No one to copy and rip off, no business. If you can't pay, don't play. Buy a Kia.
dsmpower1 said:you state a very good point here, but if all ssautochrome is doing is ripping off the design of ams, etc. then that would mean that both the manifolds would have to be similar, then why do companies such as ams. etc have to charge a buttload more for the same work done for the product. i mean i can understand if different materials are used and a little more sturdy welding done, but i dont think that is worth the 350 dollar difference. ssautochrome you can get the manifold for 150 and other similar manifolds are like 500. i mean buying something just for the name is one thing, but buyign for quality is another. also when people are buying with a budget in mind. i bought an ssautochrome manifold before i ever heard anythign bad about the company thinking i was getting a good deal on it which was almost a year ago. i havent had it yet running on my car so i don't know how it is going to hold up but i do know that with that other 350 i would of spent on another manifold i spent it instead on other supporting mods.
