i also agree that blue absolutly dose not go with red. but to each his own. i painted my interior about 9 months ago, and it still looks as good as the day i did it. i didnt use any primer or any clear coat. i just very lightly sanded, cleaned, then painted. and i even use some cheap spray paint from walmart. only cost me .90 a can. hahaha. i know im cheap. but it did a really good job. i used gloss black and gloss blue.

Sorry to hear you have to spend 3k on a new interior, but in the end vinyl is better than painting. I would have tried painting before spending 3k on a new interior anyways.

Everyone is stuck on this 3000 DOLLARS For Vinyl. Thats NOT what I siad. The 3k includes eclectronics, custom carpet, custom molding for rear speakers, racing seats, sound deadening, custom enclosure for ps2, momo hub, racing wheel, custom matched reupholstered red and black seats, etc...
BTW thanks for the comment on people being stuck on the blue and red issue
:)

red and blue will not work...ever. You need harmoneous, somewhat contrasting colors. Red and blue are not it, not now, not ever. Why do you think car designers stick with either back/aluminum, black/red, white/red? Because its esthetically pleasing.... your interior looks like something from fisher-price...
See... now you gotta knock my ambition?
I will post pics in a week or two of the finished product... meanwhile..
WASSUP with the Night Rider Rims on Your car? Talk about not making any sense at all?
I think that got played out in the 80's.

use krylon fusion on plastic parts.

I really dont like that krylon stuff, It takes a lot of coats to get the color I wanted, I went through three cans just for the doors. And only for the little parts by the door handle and looks too, and now its chipped, but one side is my fault I hurried up. The other side was good till my stupid g/f chipped it with her ring.... Oh well. Does anyone know another company that makes yellow paint?

I agree with the krylon being crap. I wanted to paint some plastic with it once so I figured I'd pay the extra few dollars a can to "do it right" with paint made for plastic. Went on fine, but came right off again. Chipped all over the place. I'd trust the $1 a can before I'd try Krylon for plastic again. After a lot of research I still don't have a bullet proof way of painting plastic interior pieces. I'd say just get them as clean as possible before hand scuff it then after it's painted be careful with it and know someday it will chip or crack. I know for automotive paint they make adhesion promoters and stuff you can mix with the paint to increase the flexibility but the guy at the PPG shop didn't have any fool proof ideas either, even if i were to pay over $150 for just enough product to spray a dash.

Why even bother painting your dash? It looks stupid and ricey. If you hate your dash that bad, just get a black dash from a 2Gb. Did anyone see how shitty the OP's dash looked. Who puts red and blue together? ROFL :barf: :notgood:

Back in the day, I used the black krylon fusion paint on some of my interior pieces, and it lasted 5 years without a single chip or crack. Its all about prep. If you have problems you are either prepping wrong, or putting it on too thick.

Wow, That's fvcking ugly.

ive painted stuff in my car and its handled just fine and still looks new. i about to spray my interior black tomorrow and will still look just as good.

Why do people think they need to paint their interior a flashy color? Do they think it will get them laid or what? It just makes you look like a fcking retarded punk ass ricer.

rush and get half ass results take time clean prep sand primer then sand again and then paint then clear i have dont that to several cars and they have lasted for freaking ever dont need to sand as much i do ### i wanted the fiberglass look :hellyeah:

How does one go about spending 3 grand on interior? I don't get it. Someone local tried telling me he paid 3 grand for his black leather/blue swede interior and I almost broke his nose just for being an idiot. Carpet costs 80 shipped in any color you wish, molded and cut to the car's spec. Vinyl Dye is God, And there are tons of companies that will redo your stock seats or whatever seat you bring them for 300-600 bucks.... No where near 3 grand. I have Black Leather Rear Seats, Black Leather/Blue Microcloth Tiburon Front Seats, Black Carpet, Black/Blue Microcloth door panels, Black Dash, Carbon Fiber armwrest Cover, Carbon Fiber Headliner ready to be installed, by yours truly and I haven't even spent a grand yet!

Funny thing is, he had RS Seats redone, so they aren't bucket seats, they are flat as a rock and uncomfortable (unless you fat)

you dont really need to sand much. all i did was bought some interrior plastic/vinvly spray apaint (like $12 / can) washed my interrior piecs like 3 times with dish soap and then took rubbing alcohol ot it to make sure they were clean, then sprayed lots of light coats on until i got it ho wi like. It still looks the same now as it did when i first did it over a year ago. no chipping, peeling or anything. (i used stel wool for a light sand, my car still has the original grain look to it and it looks like the car came like it)

the onyl par ti messed up was when i painted some parts of my dash black. it was a little too humid out. i need to go back and fix it but it will be easy. no problems with paint chipping at all or fading.

I agree with this 100 percent. I used duplicolor vinyl and plastic dye from advance. Specifically the flat black and i did everything except the dash trunk and seats and it has held up a year later no problem. This was my daily driver. I did the same method posted in the quote here. My interior can pass for a 99 all black interior. Everyone thinks i spent a ton converting it to black when it cost me like 6.00s a can at 5 cans haha. I dyed my stock gray carpet black with that dye from walmart it has yet to fade an has seen a lot of sun. I did my headliner black. The only thing that is left gray is my seats which is not so bad of a look till i can figure out something for those.

On another note I think if you use the same exact paint used to paint your car to do a few trim pieces around the radio that it looks class A and clean. Painting your entire dash ehh not so but to each his own.

LOL at the OP cardomain.... what is with the passenger side tv? Is that so Vin Diesel can monitor you damage to your manifold from the second shot of nos?

If you put in a dvd player, put it in the middle... thats got to be annoying as hell for the passenger to sit there with that in their way.

Red and blue? Seriously? I am surprised you could see out the windshield during the day with the sun out. That red has got to reflect like crazy on the windshield. Wayyy to much color dude. And with 3 grand dumped into the interier, you had better have a hot tub in the hatch of that b*tch!

EDIT: Just realized this thread was over 7 years old LOL. Checked out the OP's cardomain. Still looks like a$$.

I had a customer once, cross the boarder kinda customer, that had bright yellow interior! I mean Dash, Door Panels, Everything was YELLOWWWWWWW! "And it was alll yellow!"
