So what I really would like some advice on from all of you willing to participate in this thread is. I am About $600 over what I intended to spend on my "stock head rebuild" now a stage 1 head with 272 cams. I daily drive this car and I don't need to squeeze every ounce of power out of the car to enjoy it. But now that I have paid for the Go, I have no Show. The car is black and has the typical fade and clearcoat peel. I've powder coated half of my motor while the head was off, should I go ahead and pull the bottom end and the tranny out so I can paint the whole care engine bay, door jams and all? Or should I just put the car back together and drive it?

It is my DD and it has been down for about 2 months now. (I have a motorcycle so I can get around when I need to but I do miss the car LOL and I have never painted a car. My theory is it can't look any worse LOL

Thanks for any input you provide!

Black is an incredibly hard color to paint and make it look right IMHO. If you are going to paint it, I'd suggest waiting, saving up until you can afford to do the whole thing, and then have a paint shop with a lot of experience do it. You will be much happier with the results.:thumb:

While black is the hardest to paint if your engine and trans are already out I would paint the bay either black or the color you plan to paint the whole car. Then put your engine back in. I am tempted to do my bay flat back, gloss black, or metallic gray(one of the two colors for my paint scheme ). when I do my manual/awd swap on my spyder here in the next few weeks going to start today.

Stay with the base color as changing it is very expensive to have a good shop do it. Black is the best/worst color in the world. Ask any shop. Looks the best when done right and looks the worst when done poorly.
