Why does my Eclipse top out at 107?

So my eclipse only does 107 top speed. I thought that was normal since its the rs non turbo. However, I talked to some guys that have non-turbos like me that say it should be doing at least 130 something. any Ideas on why this isn't happening?

Its from granny shiftin' and not double clutching like you should...You dont have NOS do you?

The ECU does have a top speed governor built-in. You could try unplugging the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) next time you're at the track.

107 is low. Check the basics first. Comp check, plugs, wires etc. possible VSS inaccurracies, possible crankcase breather issues (PCV valve or blockage).

But I'm thinking that comp check will give you all the info you need. Generally this happens with a tired engine (rings/valves).

I wasn't aware of this, i have the same year he does and even with my stock ecu i easily hit above this.

While there is a top speed limiter, you probably just haven't reached it yet. If Mark says 107 isn't fast enough for the governor to kick in, then the OP's problem is probably something else.

i had same problem on my NA but mine would stop at 112 so i did an overhaul and after that i was hittin 130

and down hill i was hitting 145 hahahaha

well at lest you all know how fast you are going! i did this swap over a year ago. i got the reverse lights to work but are unable to get the speedometer to work. if any one has successfully did the swap and got the wiring figured out please send me an massage.

my car topped out at 113 mph last night. so that's not to bad bro. i got a 98 eclipse non turbo with some minor mods

but im sure i could use new plugs n other stuff

when i first bought my car all stock i was hitting around 135mph, and it could have gone faster, but after 115ish it took awhile for it to accelerate much, needed more roads.

Wow you its awesome your going so fast on public roads and telling people about it. I wish I could be as sweet as you guys.. I couldn't seem to get enough track to hit 110 mph....

Okay guys, we have rules against posting about street racing or other illegal activities. You hurt the community and performance tuning as a hobby when you post stories of reckless behavior because it gives outsiders the impression that we condone it. I've deleted several posts; please keep stories like those contained in the deleted posts off these forums.

I wasn't talking about racing or anything like that. However, yeah I speed a lot. I'll admit it. I'm sorry that after doing a motor swap I wanted to push it and see what it would do. why don't you stop worrying about the fact i'm breaking some laws and get over yourselves. if i needed someone to tell me not to drive like that i would've asked my mom.

Yeah? Speaking of getting over ourselves, perhaps you should re-read this portion of my post: "I've deleted several posts; please keep stories like those contained in the deleted posts off these forums." If your post wasn't originally deleted, then I clearly wasn't referring to you.

Nonetheless, now you seem to have made it a point to demonstrate your wanton disregard for the law. Remember the rules to which you agreed before registering on our site. If you don't like them, don't post:
