Why do 1g's only have 180 hp vs 2g 210 hp from the factory?

"ROFL" Nah, I won't tell even though, after an Knock Sensor (old one had a torn wire) ECU and CAS replacement (only three problems I've had and these were done a year after after I got the car..) I've gone 21k miles since I got the car over 2yrs ago, and with road trips with cruise on at 80mph still getting close to 30mpg....and can still blip past buzzy little Hondas who wants to take me on ...Oh, I do have a B16G in it since the motor came out of a VR4 instead of the 14B.

Yet to be honest, I did try a couple of tanks of 91 just for the heck of it and the thing lost mileage, performance and had a bit of rough idling. So, gave it up and went back to my 87 stuff and got it all back.

and 190 for the FWD as the exhaust is a bit more restrictive
Prob why users love putting 3 inch exhaust piping in place of the stock piping ...

Boost setting difference was the first thing that came to mind. I'm kind of surprised nobody mentioned it sooner. Maybe because everyone usually disconnects the boost control solenoid & forgets what the factory boost was ROFL

9 psi stock from factory man those stock boost gauges are WAAAYY off haha ROFL! So what does disconnecting this solenoid do? Yes i see it controls boost but what happens when its unplugged?
 
1g DSM are rated 195HP stock an stock vs stock are pretty much faster (t25's are holding you back) very unsure where 2g were faster?? (stated already) they can pull the same exact time in the 1/4th.

As for aesthetics that is all PERSONAL opinion.
 
do the 2g automatics have less power then the 2g manuals? the t25 was used in a couple other turbo charge cars and it was pretty good.
 
just another .02 is that the bowl of the combustion chamber is different from 6bolts to 7bolts and Maby that is where the hole premium fuel/ regular fuel comes into play..

Did they change the timing map from 1ga's to 1gb's? or only when they made the switch to 2g's?

also the 2g has a different o2 housing..

The compression is higher(smaller CC combustion chamber), Boost pressure higher(turbo is smaller and would produce a higher air temp).
 
Ok, ok now lets not knock the 7bolt or the 2g :D The 7bolt has lighter rods more responsive, and a main brace too. like was said before slightly highter compression too. with all that with a good tune the motor will hold 400hp :rocks: The t25 come on guys with all mods and 17psi was funROFL hits full boost at 2500rpm
 
I can see the lighter rods for more responsive action than the thicker rods for the 6 bolt.

Since it spooled quicker and was lighter than the Mitsu version.

There is a post somewhere, maybe on here, or on YouTube, of a DSM 1G Eagle AWD running low 8's with an automatic ... and when you think of it, just punch the gas and it'll do the shifting for you without any power loss between gears..

Prob, in all due actuality, the 7 bolt motor was a definite improvement for stock drag racing and in performance in a whole form, than the 6 bolt ever was and could ever be.

Just too bad that the motor got the bad rap for crankwalk due to the error in crank/bearing design...

It got a bad rap for bending rods earlier. Is the stock 7bolt dsm motor whp record even 50whp close to the stock 6bolt?

The 6bolt is the better block if you want to throw in something that is college budget friendly that can take upwards of 600whp and still be a frequently driven machine. The 7bolt has the girdle which apparently is a plus for 700whp guys, seeing that all the 6bolt guys with forged blocks and 700whp don't complain. . . It's nice for the stroker motor for sure.
