Whos using nitrous to stall an auto

I have a 2.2 and PI convertor with a Kiggly stall looking to run either 88/75 (63mm) or 91/79 (66mm) Borg Warner/Airwerks turbo. Iv been told with the extra displacement and billet convertor I may still need nitrous to stall. A direct port is probably overkill if im only using it to flash the convertor and not run it down the track. Im thinking if I have to go that route a single nozzle with a 50 will be plenty. For anyone doing this are you using a wet or dry shot? How far away are you putting the nozzle from the throttle body?
 
Well, Although i'm running a 5 speed i'm also looking into converting to auto because of issues i have with shifting from injuries to my left leg and spine and i've been wondering alot of thigns, this being one of them.

I recently upgraded to a pt6776 turbo (inducer is 67mm and the exducer is like 84 or something) so it's probably about the same size. I'm using a ZEX Shark Nozzle placed in the intercooler piping before the TB and right now i'm jetted to about a 75 shot (41 n2o jet / 24 fuel jet), And to be honest i don't think that it's enough so a 50 shot probably won't cut it either (or at least these are my thoughts) Here's why.

When i hit the nitrous (ECU turns it on at 3750 RPM) the spool is still rather slow even with the 75, I mean it's an imrpovement but from what i've been learning about launching the auto i believe it would still probably take too long to get you up in the boost and past the hump or whatever they call it. I men if you hit it when the first light on the tree lit up you'd be damn lucky to be past 20psi before your green lit up, and definitelynot in time to be watching and ready to leave on the last yellow. At least that the way it is in my case.

I think you're probably gonna need to hit it with at least a 100 shot to really be able to consider it a "flash" LOL Well I hope you don't mind my input since i'm not auto, but like i said i'm looking at going auto soon and i've been using nitrous to spool whatever turbo i'm running for about 3-4 years now and i gotta tell you getting into a turbo this size really takes a lot of air/juice to get it up and moving and i have the BB version.

On a side note i'd love to see some one make a "how to launch an auto" video, and slow it down and use some text to explain what all is going on and when. Because i'm ass-uming that the auto guys are hitting the nitrous immediately after staging has taken place, and we all know how little time there is from staged to green, especially when you're trying to concentrate on holding brakes, building boost and everything else.. oh and not red-lighting LOL
 
It's hard to tell until you're in the car actually testing. I can tell you from my personal experience that holding timing in the mid teens gave me a couple more psi & helped tremendously with holding the brakes vs. more more timing (low 20's). I also keep a/f's conservative, roaming around 11.8-12.0 when staging. The area I'm still working on is smoothing out the transition between staging/60' up to the 1-2 shift, hence my relatively slow 60'...1.6x.
 
Glenn I don't mind at all. Hoping with the displacement , billet convertor , and looser stall I wont quite need a 100 shot but if I do I might as well just do a direct port.
 
I don't think you would really have to worry about going direct port (unless you just want to use it as an excuse to spend the money :D ) I've ran a single fogger nozzle on my GS-t, and had the same kit back on my old supercharged t-bird, as well as the 89 foxbody stang i bought the kit for. I've succesfully ran a 150 shot through this same nozzle without any issues at all.

If it's even distribution of fueling though, i would still say you're okay, the n2o atmoized the fuel and they both carry pretty evenly throughout the manifold, and i'm prety sure although each cylinder won't get the exact same flow, the mix should still be fine per cylinder.

On a related side note, I've used the nozzle as extra fueling when running out of injector, and the coolest/weirdest thing i've discovered is that the distribution of fuel to match the air going to each cylinder is more consistant when i'm spraying some of it in before the throttle body (but it really makes sence if you think about it)

The method i used to come to this conclusion is reading plugs during tuning, I check them all, then add fuel to the cylinders that apear to be leaner than the rest. The haltech ECU allows me to trim each cylinder +/- 12.5% Cylinder #1 typically likes about 2.1 % more fuel than the rest :D (number 4 i pull 1.3% from and 2 & 3 are close enough to leave alone in most cases
 
Shark tooth nozzle, 50 shot and you don't need direct port unless your spraying your ass off. Use a wet shot as well. But go play with your setup first before you worry about nitrous.
 
Burkgonzo.. What size turbo are you spooling? I'm not trying to come off rude so please don't take it that way but on turbo's as large as the one i'm now running (and his is similar in size to the best of my knowledge) they seem like they want a whole lot more to spool.. I started with a 35 which would put my 57 trim right up on the wastegate pretty quickly, but on this turbo it was like having a strong tail wind. I'm now up to 75 and am really looking for faster spool up even still.

Everything i've read has most people that are going fast with bigger turbos are running from 100 - 125 and more (some go fast with small turbos and barely need anything) Not having the first hand experience yet though I can't really speak from experience of spooling up while sitting still against' the converter (but i love making boost at a light with the anti-lag.. you should see the people next to me when i've got the wastegate open at 5k RPM , 25psi and zero MPH LOL that's priceless... most have this look in their eye like "oh my god, i think it's going to blow up and i can't get away from it" LOL i love itt LOL LOL
 
100 shot here , with a small gt4294 and a restalled converter..

getting about 8 psi at 3800 before it pulls through the brakes. I am going to tone it down.

Intially we had a direct port which we removed, then a 35 shot, but with limited ability to adjust timing ( we tune with an AFC and TMO chip) we are handicapped and consequently had to increase the nitrous shot.

The nozzle is approximately 4 inches away from the 90 mm Throttlebody and it is a wet shot.
 
Wet shot here (75hp), using a NX kit with the shark nozzle about 4" from the throttle body. Using a locally restalled converter and it stalls to 4000rpm almost instantly. I initially used a 50 shot which worked just about as well with the hx35 but I'm getting ready to go HX40 so I decided to up the shot.
