I just finished installing my wet kit on my 90 talon, I have a TMO Stage 3 chipped ecu that gives me the rev limiters and also the ability to not have to let the gas out when shift during a race. What it does is it automatically throws the rev limit down to 6k when I push in the clutch. For my setup I decided to go with a simple button on the steering wheel setup so I am completely in control of when it spray. I was just wondering, after I launch couldnt I just hold down the button the whole way down the track since I dont have to let off the throttle at all???? Or is this somehow unsafe??

That doesn't sound like a very good setup to me. What type of N2O setup are you running, dry or wet? Also Do you have a limit switch on the throttle body/pedal, or just the pushbutton on the steering wheel? If you have the nitrous going into the motor and a rev limiter/fuel cut/ignition cut occurs when you shift, the nitrous is going to be going into the motor by itself, which could lead to a dangerous condition once the clutch is out and and the ignition fires, since you will have a large ammount of unburned nitrous/fuel in your motor and exhaust manifold. I don't know how your stage 3 ECU works, but I wouldn't have the nitrous system independant of the engine management, as human error could cause a dangerous condition in you motor during each shift if you do not let off the juice at the right points. I may be totally wrong seeing as how I don't know how the stage 3 ECU drops the revs to 6k, but regarless I don't think it's a good idea to hold the button down the whole 400 meters.

I have a wet system and it isnt limited its a simple button on the steering wheel, and the chip isnt really a engne management setup its moreso just a add on. Im pretty sure that what it does is cuts the ignition to make the rev limiter. But like i said it lets me have the throttle wide open the whole way down the track. Thats why i thougt it might work. Anyone have any first hand experience with nitrous and a chipped ecu??

dont ever hit the rev limiter when running nitrous is what ive always been told........ shit will blow...

Alright, good to know. Guess I wont try it,thanks.

Holding the nitrous down while shifting, aka, clutch in, aka neutral...your RPMs are going to jump VERY fast...I once sprayed in neutral on mistake...and boy did it hit my revlimiter so quick...I'd be careful with having it setup like that. Now, since your revlimiter has been brought down to a safer limit of 6, I suppose that's ok. BUT, if you've sprayed while shifting, and your RPMS have jumped dramatically, as soon as you put the clutch in, you're going to still be pretty near to that 6K revlimiter. So, in the next gear you shift into, you'd think it'd be almost topped, since you're RPMs were so high when you shifted into it to begin with. Just a thought..
