who on here has stroked there engine

i want to know who has stroked there engine and if so how much did it cost you and was it really worth it?

I have, its going to cost your the price of a Crank, Rods, Pistons, Bearings and machining.

You will have to have DSMlink or something similar to tune with where you are making a drastic change in the characteristics of how the engine performs. For a fun daily I would suggest a 2.3 any day of the week.

i had my 6bolt stroked in my 90 and absolutly love it.. sadley that car has left my hands.. i have a 93 now, picked up a 6bolt block and it went striaght to the machine shop to get stroked and poked..

well worth it man!!

I've been running a 2.3 since '06 and I love it. IMHO, this is what the car should have been from the factory. I got he whole thing done for a little under $4000, but
from other people I've talked to, you should budget around 5K for a complete build.

Either way, if you're not doing the work yourself, just make sure you have a reputable shop do the build. Even if the shop is solid, if they sublet outside work, such as a machine shop, follow up on their capabilities as well. Nothing worse than having to re-do the motor because some dumb-ass DID NOT follow the Wisco
specs for piston to wall clearance. Nothing like a nice case of piston slap to start off your morning.....

So, I give a giant thumbs-up on the stroker as long as you do a good amount of research before you hand over your keys!!

how much hp gain did all of you see. cause i want to stroked the engine most definitely just want to know what all needs to be done. i start my high performance school soon and im doing all my mods in school. now with all this being said can i leave my 16g turbo on there

you do not see hp gain you see torque gains and increased spool in the turbo so the hp curve begins earlier.

Not 100% accurate. If you go from a completly stock 4g63 to a Stroked 2.3 you are gonna see a hell of a lot moar torque off the line, I.E. it gets and goes quicker.

You will also see an increase in horse power, displacement = power.

You will also enjoy a noticably sharper power curve as the 2.3 is gonna make the same amount of horsepower at 7k as a 2.0 will at 8k. (Estimated)

Haha ya that's true, the common misconception from people though is that if you stroke your engine you will see big hp gains, although you will see hp gains they wont be as large as the torque gains. It has a higher ability to create more horsepower. I'm sure you will get more hp too from the displacement but the real reason why you want to stroke is the low end torque and street drivability and also the ability to spool big turbos earlier due to the torque. Which in turn willl create more hp
