Who has used a bolt-on billet turbo?

Who has used the bolt on Percision turbo's on there car? I hear air flow numbers, and alot of hot air about how fast they are with a t-3 flange. However, no times are being posted for a mitsy style flange? Anyone that may know of someone, can post there time. I'm looking for real proof that they work with a bolt on flange.
 
I have a pte billet 5557, i dont know if your talking about something much bigger though. I dont have any times but i get ~20psi by 4k. Havent really messed around with the tune yet but it made 372whp @26psi so far. Dont know if this helps or not.

hey i just purchased a PTE 6262sp billet 4" inlet with the mitsu bolt on turbine a/r .63 ...ill be installing it this week and ill keep u updated on how it spools :D

Unless Precision has recast their DSM bolt-on turbine housing and designed it to be better-flowing than it's predecessor, you will be limited to 47-48lb/min no matter HOW efficient your compressor is.

The PTE SCM6031E that dacowgod was using on his car previous to the HX40 stopped making airflow at around 47lb/min and 28psi in the PTE DSM bolt-on turbine housing. That's a 60-1 compressor being limited to 50-trim airflow.....pathetic.

He switched to a T3 manifold and .82 a/r T3 turbine housing which made the turbo about 500rpms laggier, but gained substantial airflow on top end, to the tune of about 10lb/min.

Maybe Percison sent us the wrong turbo? I'm not prepared to take the turbo apart, or measure any wheels to find out the size. Boost leaks checked, and compression test done. I'm quite interested in hearing real world results from people that have gone this route with the new Precision billet turbos as well.
I have been thinking of buying either a 6057 or 6262 and was going to start out with the Mitsubishi housing and move onto a T3 later when time/money permits.

I'm currently running a SCM5031 on my GVR4 and I'm seeing approx 52 - 53lbs/min out of it at just over 30psi and it's running in the 125mph range.

I've been running at this boost level for over a year now and have had the turbo for more than 3 so please don't jump down my throat and tell me that it's going to self destruct, at these boost levels I know it's just a matter of time now before it does! ROFL
 
same here man i just got a billet 6262sp and is going to run it with the A/R .63 mitsu bolt on housing for now then im going to switch to a T3 A/R .81 later as money and the building of my motor come together ...ill keep posting here on results :D

This is interesting news considering the T04E 50-trim compressor map ends somewhere around 48lb/min.

I thought 50+ was weird too but everything in dsmlink seems to line up correctly.
I'll attach a log for you to have a look at. I know that it does feel pretty bloody fast though :D

No, sir. 93 octane. 10.5 afr and a Little timing. It's kind of scray the 1st time you tune the car at 30+psi. Sadly with a dyno you could put a better timing map into her as she sits. My street tune, is just a ruff estimate of how may be for the car. She may make more power if we added a lot of timing and lowered the boost.She trapped pretty well as she sits.
 
Garret specifically states that there billet compressors spool no faster than there cast units. I don't see what all the fuss is about the billit wheels. :confused:

In my own paranoid opinion this Sounds like a ploy by manufactures to sell you billit turbos at high prices. With todays technology I would think the CNC machines could crank out compressor wheels much faster than the old method of casting. SO unless your pushing a turbo well past it's limits I'd skip the expensive aftermarket billet turbos. ...

Why would they spend all the money in RD if no improvement, or gain, were to be had? Honeywell doesn't just do stuff out of shear boredom I wouldn't think..
 
Billet wheels are inherently stronger due to the lack of residual stresses left over after the cooling processes from casting. Thereby, you can make the blades have larger surface area using less material (reducing overall mass, which would reduce spool times, maybe negligibly, do a test), and increasing overall airflow.

So, a stronger wheel, more fin surface area (and more area to play around with different geometries), more airflow, less mass.

Can we stop :beatentodeath: now?
