Who has the most UNIQUE COLOR exterior paint?

Not a color I kept, though it was a pretty olive green in the shade, it turned diarrhea brown in direct sunlight... I painted it again.

Poop brown was not acceptable. This is a refractive metallic pearl called gunmetal black. It is a dark charcoal silver in the sunlight, and black in shadow. It was shot over a metallic black microflake. That's how I got the smoke effect. It is very deep and 3d looking up close... Way better than sunny poop.

Sneaky looking... Like a predator. WTF

This is with direct light on it (obviously) and the aperature open to accomodate the darker color, not the light reflection. That is pretty close to the way it really looks in person... It doesn't come out on a monitor nearly as good as it looks in person.

Just in case anyone asks, no I cannot tell you how to make this color, even if I wanted to. I mix my own paint and I do it by guesswork and eyeballing it as I mix. I make a couple quarts extra in case I have to do any repairs, but each one of my paints is more accident than intention... And I prefer it that way. Each one is unique, and comprised of multiple undercoats that affect the topcoat color, so I don't know what it will look like until it is finished, and I can't replicate it... Even paint shops with color matching equipment can't match them... I've tried. I love the 1 off uniqueness though, even if I can't ever make it exactly the same when this paint is damaged. :D

I think someone had a lot of time to tape and cut that pattern. I was considering something kinda like that with a spectral Alsa paint, but couldn't decide if it would look good and be worth the price.

I think yours looks good as is, and unless you do paint and are a sucker for punishment, would leave it alone... But I think if it were my car, I would shoot a coat or 2 of candy black or blue on the silver, just to lower the silver's contrast. I happen to be crazy enough to do my own painting though, so what I say I'd do almost always involves a rediculous amount of work... And on your car, that would be a rediculous amount of work, for sure.

Well I might as well chime in on this one. First off I didn't do this the previous owner did. I would like to repaint it to any other color. But if you want every Honda boy and Rustang guy revving their engine at you this is the paint job for you.

LOL at "grabber blue"..maybe they should have called it something else.

That lime green 1g is pretty fun to look at. I don't mean that sarcastically! :thumb:

Has anyone ever seen a "brushed aluminum" paint..or like a deep silver metallic? with a heavy amount of clear on it? I was thinking of painting mine a 2010 mazda3 silver. I know it's a mazda color but atleast I wouldn't have to worry so much about my engine bay. Door jams and under the hood would be done with a satin finish and light clear.

it was alot of work. i like it, it turns alot of heads. Around my here:dsm::dsm::dsm: people just think oh hey an eclipse with a nice paint job i bet he aint got nothing under the hood tho...RED LIGHT....GREEN LIGHT......VRRRRRRSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FFFFFFFTIIISSSSSSSSSS!!!! GONE

FYI, that Mirrachrome paint IS NOT as easy as they make seem to apply. I have used it on smaller pieces like running boards and mirrors, and I will tell ya that if you don't have extremely good control over your gun and a smooth technique, it'll make some very odd layering effects. Doing an entire car like that would absolutely require a down draft paint booth with 100% filtration on all air, because any sort of dust or grit (or if you were to try to do it outside, gnats/mosquitoe) will show worse than a black paint. It's slick like a mirror, so any variation in the surface is extremely noticeable... And it is not a paint you can sand the mistakes out of easily.

I miss my old eclipse. This was always a sharp color. They called it Amazon metallic blue.
