hey friends this is what i have,
98gsx
95 ecu eprom (v3)
1g(6bolt)block
2g(7bolt)head
black top CAS
CAS plug
**all these parts have been tested**
Now i have read , but no ones resolution to their swap has fixed my issue.
so hear it is, i can get the car on after 10-20X of failing to get it started **have to adjust the CAS constantly to do so****** does NOT idle correctly and shuts down after some time, if i attemp to drive it if i dont give it steady throttle it will shut down on me too. now the CAS has been checked so has the ECU the engine is solid (checked) but, thers so many people who swear they know about this swap. that forums are clogged with info that can confuse you, (me). no i understand swicthing up the firring order. BUT if you have LINK, do you still need to rotate the injector order on the pins of the ecu,? or not? some forums says yes others say no. some say swicth the spark plug order, some say the coil pack order.others say get 1G coil pack.. some say swicth the injector plugs order on the fuel rail. ""i am assuming this is my problem"

i have also been told. when you do the swap, that it automaticly advances the timming thus the need for link,... i would really like to hear from some one who has sucessfully done the swap. But all help is greatlly appreciated.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

google 6 boilt swap and find the link that tells u how to do the swap the link is to this sit im looking for it if i find it ill post it for u

If you have Link and select " Invert CAS Signal" I believe is the command, then you do not have to swap the injector pulses via the wiring at the ECU. What you DO have to do is swap your spark plug wires around. ;)

your right i am a lucky man , to have connected with all of you, but that link is for the COMPLETE 6 BOLT SWAP, i have a 7 bolt head!/ with a 6 bolt block,

black top ! . CAS yes swicthed the plugs, also.. !!! ive been told. that it will makes changes when the dsm link is in, but once the car is turned off it re-sets it self to crap mode. ? some one suspected that the head was milled ? any one ever heard of that

We basically just took the 7bolt block off and put a 6 bolt block on my crankwalked car and didnt mess with anything else put the 7bolt head on the block attached the transmission and dropped it in and started right up only problem being idle surge but nothing big

Whatever you do, do not just buy dsmlink. You do NOT NEED dsmlink for any 6 bolt swaps. I have a 6 bolt in my 98 gsx and it runs perfectly, and i don't have dsmlink. Whoever told you that is an idiot. The only thing that link can do is turn off the check engine light for the missfire code. You can do the same with ecuflash though and that costs so much less than link its ridiculous. You should be able to use ecuflash for your car since its a 98. Otherwise i am not sure about your problem, because it could be a couple different things. good luck

So im assuming you DO have link? you have v3 next to your eprom... if so, you can post a link of your data log and we can see whats going on.

CEL on? Did you scan the code?

Is your timing 100% correct?

Did you do a leak test? Check all vac hoses are on?

Are there any other mods on the car we should know about? (Injectors etc...)

If you have link you do not need to swap firing order. Thats where the " invert cas signal" comes into play. You have a 1g cas, your ecu is made for a 2g (95-96 model). The 2g cas gets a reading that is "clockwise" due that it is on the timing side. The 1g gets a "counter-clockwise" reading due to it being tranny side of motor. Your signal needs to be swapped to the clockwise hence the "invert". Link can do this with the click of a button and is suggested for the swap due to the random misfire commonly encountered. Link will tell the ecu to overlook the random misfire for a hassle free swap.

Well played sir. :thumb:

guys thanks, but im almost convinced it's a good idea to have link (already have it ) since i have a 7 bolt, head, and, how would putting the head and block togethor and connecting to the transmission fix my problem if everything is allredy installed. ? it runs. it just wont stay on? ....... but thanks really. i just really need to hear from some one who has actully physicaly done the 7bolt head 6bolt block swap. i think that would help target specifics and not maybes.

and one more question,,, i dont need to inver the firring order of the coils.? AND/ OR the firring order of the injectors at the pins for the ecu ? wich one is it, or is it, both ?

I'm going to use the kigglys sensor that lets you used your stock sensors and you don't have to mess with anything, the only thing that you need to do is the balance elimination kit. Well that's something that everyone wants to do, this sensor seats where the balance belt is. I'm doing this because I have hear nothing but good things about this sensor.

miliman13 post a log it will help, plus we can look over your setting

Ok i just finished my 6 bolt block 7 bolt head. I dont have link so i DID swap injector wires and i DID change my firing order. Runs good no hesitation or stalling. I followed this
RRE Instructions

AND THIS
6 Bolt Motor Install Into a 2G Eclipse

Your making this harder than it has to be. All of this has been beaten to death many times!

A log is a recording taken by , in your case link, that you can post so we can break it down to determine whats going on with your motor. Search man, there is an entire thread about posting logs on this site.

You pretty much just swap out tye bottom end. 6 bolts dont have a crank sensor so.... You wire up a 1g into your harness into both cam and crank pigtails. You then swap wires on the ecu to invert the signal and change injector order. Next swap either your spark plug wires or.. in my case.. the 2 blue wires on the ignitor/coil pack. Its all covered in the links i supplied above.

Pop the cherry on that virgin search bar of yours!!!!!!!
