White smoke, very little oil

I just bought a 92 GVR4 with an fp3065 (built engine, .20 over pistons, etc) boosting about 21psi
And I think I'm way over my head just coming from an LS1 firechicken...

Anyway...

I noticed that under strong acceleration a decent amount of white smoke, but the car pulled hard to 21psi. Also, there was no smoke just cruising or letting her idle.

No smoke under the hood, and unfortunately no oil on the dipstick after she was sitting for a while...(yikes)

The car is sitting now, thought I heard light ticking at some point but it seems to have gone away.

Can't get a hold of the seller, on a side note:
I'm changing the oil later today, is 10w 30 best for the car, how much, and what oil filter... (can't get an answer from napa or autozone)?



I'm ashamed to say I don't know nearly enough about this fine car, but I've always wanted one (cheaper substitute for EVO5, ) and now I don't know what to do...
Any help is appreciated.

check the coolant. in my 2g it was pulling hard until i blew the headgasket...pushed all the coolant. change the oil and see how that does with ## oil issue. when u change it check for any leaks.

The coolant is fine
I think it's a combo of a lean tune, my 900mile treck back to NY yesterday it embarked on, etc.

No oil leak visible anywhere, or any oil spurting. No oil visible anywhere on the head, head gasket, anywhere...

The coolant didn't leak at all or burn though
It doesn't (and didn't 5 minutes ago) smoke white or smell of oil just driving around or idling
The oil is pretty dark, it needs to be changed
Also, it needed two quarts.

I didn't do any spirited driving so I didn't see any white smoke.

THe white smoke was only under HARD accelerating (saw quiet a few pretty cars in the way home and last night, they didn't know what hit them...).

MORE IMPORTANTLY:
I occasionally notice a lite ticking or knocking noice. Sort of similar to piston slap in sound that I had with my LS1.
I can't recall if I heard it when I bought the car (damn twin disk was distracting me...)
Now I know the 4g63 is all cast iron, so I'm a little stumped.
It came and went and I'm thinking it's just the injectors or could it be early spark because of the tune? AMS tuned the dsmlink and I'm really stumped.
UGH...

I'd just like to get the car sorted out before I go to watkins glenn (roadcourse), I'd hate to be burning a lot of oil up there or blow up anything engine related. I've already got my hands full with the tranny...

THe one thing I noticed is the car doesn't idle very smooth

Could this be because of the DSMlink?

Could you bump your thread a few more times? The "Edit Post" button that you could have used to simply update us apparently isn't working correctly.

Check your turbo for shaft play. Pull the intake hose off, stick your fingers in the compressor inlet until you can grasp the compressor wheel nut and try to wiggle it up and down, side to side, and in and out. If it wiggles, then your turbo is shot. Take off the lower intercooler pipe and look for traces of oil. Look for oil in your intercooler.

Do a compression/leakdown test. Do a boost leak test.
